Review 2 of 8

Price Paid:  $800.00 from supersound

Year / Model Reviewed:
2002 4180x

Summary:
brilliant sound, easy rta setup with bostons and p9r ,when you increase the volume past the rated power they still sound exceptional, they just get louder and louder .Reproduction is more of a synthesised sound than true sound but great for it...i had 2 both bridged, one ran 2 15" clarion dual input subs series (8 ohm) cut at 250hz ,lower vocals resonate in your chest ,bass notes were crisp ,short width ,punchy ,accurate ,the best bass i have EVER heard , and when it distorts the bass is fantastic, this is the best amp in the world!

Strengths:
when you pass its rated output the sound is excellent or better, best sounding bass ever , i also have polk audio c400,genesis 4 channel, xtant 404,the 4180 is in adiffent league totally....and i also play guitar (trinity school of music) so i have musical ear

Weaknesses:
no good for bass! yeh i know what i said...first the bass amp died after 6 months, so i put the high range one in its place and then that died 3 months later i only ran them at 8 ohm!!ever!! ,conclusion...bass kills these amps. also didnt buy from authorised dealer so xtant refused to honour waranty.... beware!!!!!Also sixties soul james brown especially sounds dreadfull,, i found these amp reproduce new music beautifully but the old stuff no, also slight thrash of the tweater at high high volume, also live music reproduction does not sound lifelike very sweet yes and pleasurable but not accurate too synthesised you see , also not possible to pick out vague sounds because the crackely sound it gives you too much to listen to!!!or is that a plus? i wish these were reliable ive spent a fortune trying amps to replace them and still buying...probably will buy the 604 just to see if it lasts doing bass but at $1300 its a lot of money for 1 years worth of great sound! i compare all amps to xtant 4180 and cant be beaten yet!!!!I HAVE NEVER REGRETTED BUYING THESE 2 AMPS JUST TO HAVE THEM PLAYING FOR ME

Similar Products Used:
polk audio c400( current bass amp),genesis 4 channel( bloody awful if you like these you are deaf anyway!), xtant 404 ,2 x puritan ,jl 450 ( boring sound)

Review 3 of 8

Price Paid:  $300.00 from on ebay

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2200ix 2-Channel Amp

Summary:
Great amp overall. Powered 2 8" boston competiors and a 12" The only problem was i was somewhere around 1-ohm. Yes stupid, the amp lasted about a month and then started to smoke blowing the power transistors on the amp. When amp was functioning it was the most incedible sound ever, thats if your looking for quility vs sound. Cross overs on the amp for subs were awesome, compared to the xtant 2200i. Will buy again.

Strengths:
Clean, clarity. Stylish.

Weaknesses:
Not user friendly if you want to change settings frequently.

Review 4 of 8

Price Paid:  $799.00 from Audio world

Year / Model Reviewed:
 98

Summary:
This amp sucked. I was pressured into buying this amp and for NOTHING!!! I had a old majestic that sounded better than this. Its sopposed to be an awsome amp considering the fact its 1000x1. All i seemed to get out of it was trouble. ( over heating, dust built up, and lots of distortion)

Strengths:
Does not have any.......Go with a memphis amp and or a rockford fosgate.

Weaknesses:
Everything

Similar Products Used:
All my amps were better than this.....but if I had to compare I would say use a whole made amp it would probobly sound just as good if not better!!!!

Review 5 of 8

Price Paid:  $0.00 from Extreme Sound

Summary:
This is the first amp i''ve ever had. I think the store ripped me off though. They charged me 850$ for the amp and another 200 for the setup includeds 1 ot gauge wire,Monster RCA''s, remote gain expansion, Platinum Fuse and box, and some other various crap. Now Im not sure but was that 1 ot wire truly necisary? also I purchased the amp like 6 months ago for 850$ wich was on the date of 11/02/01. a few months later I went to magnolia to find out I could''ve bought the 1001dx model for the same price, kicking myself. All in all though the amp has been a dream and people flip when they see it and they see it pushing my two 12" xtant Hex''s like MF''s. I believe if you want a good amp go one model up 1001dx and the 2200ix is hard to find. Looks good sounds great costed alot. If you can get the amp for 500$ or less you''ll be hella happy. Extreme sound located in downtown Puyallup, they will try to rip you off, also they''re employees make a 17% commision on everything they sell. So they get aggressive at times. If you have any questions or you can answer mine. sometimes it sounds wierd when I hook it up to two subs, any help? email me at "turbo2_300zx@hotmail.com"

Strengths:
looks.. Loud, excellent setup under the cover. seems to run pretty cool all in all
