Strength:

3 sets of RCA outputs + 4X45W. EEQ. cd text. Subwoofer controller with frequency.

Weakness:

flimsy faceplate. pretty hard to use, because of all the control buttons in it, like EEQ, sub frequency...

excellent cd player, never skips even on really shi*ty roads. a lot of features on it, like programable EEQ. I bought it used on ebay, but the quality is awesome for $70!! recommended.

Strength:

lots, and lots of features........ and looks cool at night.

Weakness:

face plate is a little flimsy.

overall i have been very happy with this unit. in addition to the eq presets and high-mid-low settings there is also three different loudness settings, and if you look deep into the manual you'll find that you can also set special frequency response ranges.also you don't have to choose one of the eq presets if you don't like the sound- it does have a custom setting option.you can also set it up so that when it is "off" the display can stay on or off(clock).at night the "off" display illuminates multi-color - depending on what angle you look at it.

Strength:

Plays extremely well w/ my kenwood 6x9s. Plays burned cd as if they were real ones. Very good and hasnt skipped ever

Weakness:

It shuts off when u take a cd out

I paid 170 for this, and i think that was a pretty good deal. But then i had to pay 45 bucks to get it installed at circuit city, which i think is a rip off. But the radio was a good price and very much worth the amount paid. I would have paid more for it! I would recommend this radio for anyone that is looking for something that wont bust there pockets, but is extremely good!

Strength:

Looks good, clear, crisp sound, preset EQ + 1 custom, plays CDR/CDRW's, CD-TEXT capabilities, CD naming

Weakness:

Unit shuts off after ejecting the CD, lime green backlite, too many step to select repeat and random, 1 set of pre-outs.

Overall, I was very satisfied with this deck. I recommend it for anyone upgrading from an OEM deck. Finding it from a pawnshop, it didnt have any manuals or anything but luckily Pioneer's website has an archive of manuals and installation guides which was a real plus. There's a few functions that you have read the manual to find out...(ie. holding "function" for 2 second to enable CD naming, turn the unit off then hold "function" to set the time...etc...etc..) I'm pretty sure my next deck after this will be another Pioneer.

Strength:

The controls are relatively simple, no gaudy flashing lights, the EQ system is nice. I have a convertible (Miata) and I have one EQ preset for top up and another for top-down driving to compensate for noise difference.

Weakness:

I've been pretty happy with it. I don't use a lot of the fancy features and would have chosen to not pay for them if it was an option. I would also like the ability to dim the display when the car's lights are on, it's much brighter than the other interior lights. Oh yeah, the installer/dealer, Custom Sound in Ann Arbor, sucks. I had to make three trips back to repair other parts they broke while installing the radio.

I paid about $300 including installation and mounting parts, probably more than I should have, but I wanted a stereo-only shop to put it in. I should have known better, as I could have received the same level of competency from the big box appliance store and paid less.

Similar Products Used:

This is my first aftermarket stereo and it sounds so much better than any OEM radio I've ever had. The factory stereo on my 1991 Miata died, prompting this purchase. There is no comparison in sound quality.

Strength:

Looks decent, good sound, controls are easy to use once you figure them out. A good value for those who just want to replace a stock system with something with a CD player, rather than create a rolling edition of audio nirvana.

Weakness:

Lime green buttons at night, terrible AM reception. Somewhat limits your ability to upgrade the rest of your system.

I got this head unit primarily for the looks. It's not as gaudy as most of the other aftermarket systems out there. It turns out that the grey finish matches the dash of my 2001 Civic perfectly. The display which is orange during the day, turns white a night. Too bad since my dash has orange lights on it but only at night. Also note that the buttons which are clear or black during the day turn lime green at night.

The system is confusing unless you read the owners manual. Once you do, it's simple enough. I especially like the the 4 different settings for the loudness. Between those and the built in EQ, you can customize the sound very easily. The only drawback I see in this reciever is that AM reception is horrible. FM seems fine.

Strength:

Strong amplifier, good bass, Easy EQ doesn't get any easier! Disc labeling is good and versatility is remarkable. User friendly controls. Gotta respect the Detachable Face feature. Works wonders with CD-Rs!

Weakness:

Small buttons

When I installed the unit, it worked perfectly. I feel that it makes stock speakers sing to their maximum. Even though I highly recommend scrapping them for a better aftermarket brand. I feel that features like FIE and 3 band equalizer are awesome!

Similar Products Used:

I feel that this product is all about value for the dollar, where other models of similar brands have unwanted features that make the cost high.
