Price Paid:  $110.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
1995 Ford Windstar

Summary:
I wanted to replace the stock cassette radio with a CD, and didn't want to spend a lot of money. The San Diego was inexpensive and I bought two for both my vehicles. One performed without problems for the 3 years I had it (vehicle sold). The other has not... the face lighting started flickering about two years after installation. Another two years it is completely without lumintion so you can't see the settings, stations, etc. I get by without because I know my station pre-sets. But should car maintenance require the disconnection of the battery cables, then the San Diego returns to default settings and it takes a long time to get my setting back (must push the tuner button up/down till I get a station, listed for the station ID, then move on if needed... UGH!). Soundwise the San Diego was a tad inferior to the stock radios.

Strengths:
The volumn control is a turn knob, allowing the driver to find and manipulate without taking eyes off the road. Volumn control turn knobs are easier than a push button volumn control... safer too! Multiple pre-set equalizer settings. Clock. Detachable face.

Weaknesses:
No anti-skip feature... road bumps cause the audio to skip. Air sound in background.
