AWESOME HEAD UNIT. CRYSTAL CLEAR SOUND.I WAS USING A HIGH END SONY BUT I HAD A PROBLEM BLOWING SUBS,I EVEN DESTROYED A KICKER ZR460 DUE TO LOW PREAMP VOLTAGE, WHICH PRODUCES CLIP. I CHANGED TO THE ECLIPSE AND HAVEN HAD A PROBLEM SINCE. YOU CAN GET A GOOD USED ONE FOR ABOUT $250.

Strengths:
HIGH VOLTAGE LOW IMPEDENCE OUTPUT. ESN SECURITY, IF STOLEN WILL NOT WORK. IF SENT TO ECLIPSE THEY KNOW WHO'S IT IS.

Weaknesses:
MUST HAVE AMPS TO POWER ALL SPEAKERS. VOLUME CONTROL WENT BAD. I SENT IT IN TO ECLIPSE AND THEY SENT ME A BRAND NEW 55040. I HAD TO PAY 170.00

Summary:
Has everything on it that you need! Looks good at night. Sounds good with the 5V pre-out it has.

Strengths:
The sound quality is awsome, The display at night is very good, Every button is distingushed on it.

Weaknesses:
Can't see it in the daylight makes it hard to know what you are doing.

Summary:
Great unit. I thought it was a bit expensive when I purchased it, but it was well worth it. I have it in a '99 Eclipse Spyder running it with a 600 watt Kenwood amp into a 10" Boston Acoustics sub and Kenwood speakers. The sound quality is extremely clear, but isn't thin like Alpine or Sony. The only problem I have is one that I've encountered recently. It skips ALOT. It didn't start skipping until the last few months. Which means it hardly skipped for about 3 years or so. Now, when I hit a bump or slow down (this is weird, but when I slow to a stop it skips like crazy) it skips.

Strengths:
Great sound, useable options, many decks have useless features that never get used.

Weaknesses:
Skips after a few years, but most decks do.

Summary:
This is the absolute bomb! I replaced my Blaupunkt (damn thing was stolen)with a Clarion (damn thing was stolen), and had to replaced it with the Eclipse 5303R!!! It has the best sound I''ve ever heard come from car audio. It looks so simple, but has so much to offer... It was a little on the expensive side, but worth every penny of it!

Summary:
Great sounding CD head unit. I purchased this unit used from a demo in the store. It was a massive upgrade from my old JVC head unit. The sound quality is wonderful, and the remote control is a handy feature. There is also a sub-phase control which is a cool feature too. High voltage pre-amp outputs are also a good plus in this head unit. This used to be one competition quality unit, and is still one of the best sounding CD player. I originally wanted a Pioneer P1R or Sony CD-90, but they were too expensive. You should be able to find these used for cheap.

Strengths:
Sound quality, Sub Phase control, good remote control, High voltage preamp.

Weaknesses:
Can't see display during the day. CD changer option is expensive.

Similar Products Used:
Pioneer p1r and sony c90. Eclipse 5303r is cheaper, and has a 5v preamp out. Sony c90 still sounds the best.
