Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $149.00 from Jenson Motor Center

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 DXZ535 pro audio

Summary:
What a big disappointment. Very complex, hard to read buttons- not user friendly at all. Very poor sound-shaping characteristics, the 2 band eq doesn't help at all. The detachable face is somewhat difficult to remove. The display graphics are low-tech. All of this from a "pro-audio" line. Color adjustment only varies from red to green, with ugly variations of yellowish in-between.

Strengths:
The only strength was the solid red display.

Weaknesses:
In general this was the biggest waste of 150 bucks I've ever spent. I've actually seen Koss head units that were nicer. Seriously.

Review 3 of 5

Price Paid:  $140.00 from Audio Video Express

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 DXZ535

Summary:
I like this head unit alot.I bought this to replace an eight year old kenwood that started to skip really bad on cdr's and cdrw's.Any cd i load into this deck plays flawlessly.I even took a ride over the bumpiest roads i could find, and this deck never skipped once. The tuner pulls in more stations than my old deck with less distorsion, and much more clairity.I also like the five different music modes to shape the sound to your taste. The 18 watts X 4 of power drives my speakers to really loud, clean sounding levels. The flip down detachable faceplate is great for security, and keeping dust out of the CD slot. This deck claims to have 80 different color changes, but i can only get about 10 different colors and 10 different hues, for a total of about 20.If anyone gets more, please let me know how in another review.Other than that,i think this is an excellent car deck.

Strengths:
Clean power and sound.Detachable flipdown face.Excellent tuner.CD'S don't skip.

Weaknesses:
I just wish i could get it to change more colors.
