Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $150.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 JVC KD-S580

Summary:
I found this model CD Player worked great especially for the price, great for anyone wanting something simple and dependable. Alot of smaller features(detach face, Preouts,Loudness, 45wx4 power, selectable electronic Bass, treble, balance, and fader control, ATT, Direct track access, and more. Ive owned alot of Pioneer, Kenwood, sony cd players before...and this one has been far more reliable AND cheaper then the others.

Strengths:
GREAT unit when it comes to dependability, features, price, and look.

Weaknesses:
Detachable face can sometimes be a little tricky to get back on..thats about it.

Similar Products Used:
have owned Pioneer, Kenwood, and sony cdplayers...none been as dependable as this one.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $119.00 from Circuit City

Year / Model Reviewed:
 KD-S580

Summary:
We got this unit for my brother for him to put in his truck. Installation was straight forward and all the controls were basic. Detachable face was nice, nothing else was too special. I kinda wanted him to get a Pioneer, but he liked the JVC look so he chose the KD-S580. The major problem came when I installed it, I was sure to double-check all connections and the unit still malfunctioned. It would power up, say "Hello" and what not. And then after about 2 seconds, it would shut down. Never any sound, did the same thing when you put in CDs, or ejected them. It would power up, then shut down. We returned it, and the 2nd unit ended up doing the same thing. I installed the CD player in a different car to be sure that it wasn't just a short somewhere in the vehicle, still the same problem. So I don't know, customer service phone number disconnected me the 1st time. Then the 2nd time they told me the office was closed. So we just returned the CD player and he finally got the Pioneer I wanted him to :) Works great.

Strengths:
Sleek Design

Weaknesses:
Low-end Model (you get what you pay for) Malfunctioned, twice

Similar Products Used:
Pioneer, Alpine, Sony
