Price Paid:  $37000.00 from Infiniti of Norwood

Year / Model Reviewed:
2006 G35 Coupe 6MT

Summary:
I would have loved to rate this vehicle highly for what it provides in the way of styling and price. I can't find another vehicle that looks and feels like the G does for the price (exception being the Z). The fit and finish of the vehicle's interior is fantastic and the car's exterior lines catches people's eyes. People taller than 6' beware, it's tight in the drivers seat - my heads sits in the sunroof opening and I'm almost 6'2".

There is a dark lining on this cloud I'm describing however, read on...

I have to say that I found out too late that cars based on the VQ35DE engine (REV-UP) motors can be prone to engine knock and/or oil consumption. I don't believe there was too much data out back in 8/06, but I am now seeing many ’06 G35 as well as Z owners complaing of both. Nissan is refusing to stand behind its product and only replacing engines when the owner presses their issues through the BBB or legal action. Given what transpired with the 2006 Altimas, I am not surprised that our engines are defective. The pistons and the rings are the suspects for the G and Z. I will be pursuing this matter with whomever I have to in order to get my G fixed. Recommend pass on Nissan products.

Strengths:
Style, fit and finish, the car feels and looks like it's worth so much more than it is.

Weaknesses:
Engine is defective; owners of vehicles with this engine have already had them replaced. Nissan support is deplorable.

Price Paid:  $37500.00 from Infiniti of Coconut

Year / Model Reviewed:
2006 Infiniti G35 Coupe

Summary:
This is the first luxury sports car I've owned. It is a pleasure to drive with plenty of power and great handling. I was also amazed how it handled in a torrential down pour on the turnpike. It handled like I was on a dry road. No skidding, slipping or trouble hydroplaning.
Styling is a head turner, but its the throaty exhaust that grabs the attention first.

Strengths:
Styling, power, fit and finish, easy to see everything on dash and steering wheel, and everything is easy access without groping around for it.

Weaknesses:
Could use a little more trunk room, but then again, Im not hauling things And as for the interior for passangers, I'm not " Kato" either.

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $36800.00 from Dealer in VA

Year / Model Reviewed:
2006 G35 Coupe 6MT

Summary:
I bought this car as a replacement for my wife's '93 VW Corrado, which was a super fun car, albeit a bit quirky as it aged. The G35 coupe's stongest suit is it's looks. The car is gorgeous (although the 19 inch wheels could fill the fenders a bit better. It's relatively quick, handles well, has decent brakes and is comfortable. The road noise is fairly significant, but I guess that's what you get with that 40 series tires. The number of standard features for the money is also a strong point. We looked at the '06 BMW 330 (the coupes still aren't out, so we had to settle for an AT sedan), but we couldn't justify the extra cash, even with an overseas military discount.
Now for my biggest beef: the tranny. I haven't driven a car that shifts this poorly since the Chevy Chevette I drove in high school. For a car in the mid to high $30K range from a high end Japananese carmaker, I expected much more. Compare this to any Honda, Toyota or Mazda and it doesn't even come close in smoothness. Some may say it's because it's a "performance car"... my '89 Porsche 911 shifts better than this thing, so does our '93 Corrado, so did my old '84 Toyota Supra and '79 Celica I had in college. I'm surprised I don't see more negative reports on this. It is getting a little better as we break it in, but it should be much smoother right out of the box. But I digress... Based in Infiniti's reputation of late, I expect above average reliability and resale value.

Strengths:
LOOKS
Overall peformance
Bang for the buck
Fit and finish
Lots of standard features

Weaknesses:
Tranny
Back seat headroom
No trip computer w/o the nav system
Bose stereo is not good

Review 4 of 4

Price Paid:  $32989.00 from Infiniti of Coconut

Year / Model Reviewed:
2006 G35 Coupe 6MT

Summary:
I've had this car for almost a month now and I still look forward to getting home to drive it. I have a "company car" for work. At 1200 miles in less than a month, this car just makes you want to speed. I got it in pearl white with wheat leather. Only option I got was the spoiler, and I got the 2005 spoiler, the 2006 spoiler looks like the 350Zs' spoiler, in other words "boring!" Everything else is standard on this, 19" rims, 298 HP is basically all I wanted.

Strengths:
Accelaration, handling, braking, comfort, the "turning head factor",

Weaknesses:
The front driver side speaker sounds like its busted, the dealer checked it and found nothing wrong with it, they said it may be coming from a vibration. It still bothers me....so I just changed the stereo balance to hear the bulk of the music on the rear speakers and passenger side. I wish that I should've gotten it now with the Bose system.
