Price Paid:  $14000.00 from Kia One, British Col

Year / Model Reviewed:
2001 Kia Magentis

Summary:
Over all we are extremely pleased with this vehicle. After years of what we deemed as bad luck with domestic cars and SUV's we finally struck gold on this one (no domestics... we learned our lesson). Looks great drives AMAZING (esp with the shift tronic tranny). This was an x-lease model with 30,000 k's on it. We have only had to bring it in for service once (2 months after buying it), but that was just when we would drive it with the automatic option it would jerk when switching gears. Of course the car wouldn't do it when the service techs drove it. Now we have learned mostly how to drive and be better in tune with it to prevent that from happening.

Strengths:
Very roomy. Lovely exterior and a pretty comfortable interior with bucket seats. The shift tronic option is really nice. The car has a lot of power behind it normally, but its got lots more kick to it when driven with the shift tronic. Roomy trunk so i can fit an enormous jogging stroller back there and groceries with it. Doesn't feel like your driving a big car. Handling is pretty good on it. I have driven a couple of cars with better handling but this one more than makes up for that in its other bells and whistles!

Weaknesses:
Occasionally stopping on even slightly damp roads with this model can turn into saloon cars on ice. We have opted to just buy better tires than the ones that came with this car. Although this car is very roomy, fitting convertable toddler car seats (0-80) pounds rear facing in the back seat leaves little to no leg room for the front seat passenger. Overall we are pleased with the kia dealer we bought it from, but the service department could use some lessons in listening skills a bit more.

Similar Products Used:
Ford Festiva 1990, GMC Jimmy 1987, Mercury Topaz v6 (sucked gas), Ford Tempo, Ford Focus (this was the last of our fords... EVER), 2000 GMC Jimmy... i'm just about to head out the door and buy another kia!
