Price Paid:  $20000.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2008 XR

Summary:
I really like this car. It's amazing how there is so much room in a car that's 7 inches shorter than the Corrolla. I haven't had any trouble with it other than I only have been getting 23mpg in town and 28mpg on the highway, and the breaks are already squeaking.

Strengths:
Size, easy to drive, sunroof, price.

Weaknesses:
gas mileage, brakes are already squeaking, very jerky acceleration.

Review 3 of 66

Price Paid:  $13500.00 from Lake Keowee Chrysler

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 Toyota Matrix XR

Summary:
We bought this car in May 2003. It has 10,000 miles on it and the dealer was wanting to get rid of it quickly. We thought it was quirky and different, and most importantly, it fit out budget.

We have loved this car. Ours has 120,000 miles on it and we haven't had ANY problems with it. We have gone through two pairs of tires and replaced the breaks twice. Besides basic oil changes, we haven't ever had it in the shop.

This car has held everything from furniture, skis, snowboards, kneeboards, 8' PVC pieces (with the hatch glass up) and have moved a few friends with this car.

We have traveled from Greenville, SC to Key West to Niagara Falls in the car and haven't had any problems. I drive it daily to work, about 30 miles round-trip and average 33 mpg even four years later.

We have started considering replacing our other car a Ford truck and the only car we can think of is another Matrix! We hate to be "those people" with the same cars in the driveway, but there isn't a better option out there!

The only things we do not like is the road noise that most people have mentioned and the lack of leather seats as an option. We also replaced our 17" wheels and rims that came with our car with 16" wheels and rims because the 17" wheels were pricey.

Overall, this car rocks. It is an awesome deal and a Toyota product, so it will last until you are ready for something else!

Strengths:
EVERYTHING!

1. Gas mileage... after 120,000 miles it still gets 34mpg on average!
2. Space
3. Reliability

Weaknesses:
VERY FEW!

1. Road noise is annoying, but not too bad.
2. Acceleration is sometimes weak.

Review 5 of 66

Price Paid:  $18000.00 from Prestige Toyota

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 XR

Summary:
This car is perfect for practical people looking for a balance of utility, comfort, economy, some sporty feel and price tag.

I got bought this car because it is a Toyota, it is a hatch-back with flat folding back seats. I love its utility immensely. You can transport a bicycle without taking it apart, construction material, mattresses or a couch (with open hatch) or a love-seat (with a closed hatch).

At the same time it has good millage (30-36 mpg). With a manual transmission it has enough power and spice for the city or highway.

I actually liked the visibility in the car, including to the sides and back. It is much better than in Prius.

Sometimes I wish for a 4WD, but it does not seam very practical considering the price, millage, and performance associated with buying an AWD.

The only thing I wish was improved in the Matrix are the plastic moldings and panels. With time it starts making some vibrating noise and it is becoming annoying.

Strengths:
Millage
Interior utility

Weaknesses:
Vibrating plastic noise starting to appear
