Summary: Before anyone wonders how I got this vehicle for $24,700, traded a Accord and incentives from Honda.
Have owned (2) new Honda's before, both sedans. Took the next step into the Pilot. This is one sweet ride. Leather heated seats, XM Radio is nice too. Handles great, smooth and quiet. I thought about purchasing an American product, then came to my senses in about 2 seconds. Honda's sell themselves.
Strengths: Quality, Honda reliability
Weaknesses: No telecoping steering wheel, that's about it

Summary: We bought the car new. Love the car, not too good on gas, but acceptable.Had no problems until 6 months ago, it had 80,000 miles and the gas gauge started acting up, it kept going up and down... every time I would start the car the needle would be in a different place. We took it to the dealer and explain the problem, they changed the sensor inside the gas tank, did not help, it was still acting up. We took the car back (we have the platinum warranty, so we took it back to the dealership)and they replaced the whole cluster (speedometer, odometer, gauges) still didn't help... we are on our 3rd cluster and it's still not showing me the right amount of gas , still fluctuates... we are very frustrated with this and called Honda in CA, they are still trying to figure it out what the problem is. Anybody else with the same problem, the gas gauge? We love the car, really over all it is a great car, we just hope the gas gauge will be fixed very soon.
Strengths: Great car!!!
Weaknesses: gas gauge

Summary: I bought this car in November 2002. I was trying to buy an Odyssey, but there was a waiting list. I'm pretty happy with this car. I didn't have to do anything other than changing the tires and brake pads. I have never experienced any noise or anything coming from the engine or the frame. I have the factory installed DVD player and the running boards.
Strengths: Very Low Maintenance Engine
Nice Handling
Very Spacious
Good Visibility
Weaknesses: -Had problems with defogger. It doesn't do the job very quickly. Even if you you turn on the defogger, driver vents are still blowing air. Checked with the honda service, they said there is nothing much they can do about it it's by design.
-Radio Clock is always off by two three minutes
-This is a problem with many SUVs, but when you roll down the rear windows as you are driving, there is an unbearable whooosing noise that hurts your ears. I think this is an inherent design flaw.

Summary: Bought this puppy new in July 2002
Dealer serviced, now ~ 180,000 kms
Traction contol not as precise as new
Moved to BC from Ont....more mtn driving so brakes don't last as long
Really poor mileage in cold weather,
-20F ...one can see the gas gauge needle move while driving. Crappy cold weather algorythm
Just got it serviced at Harmony Honda in Kelowna..$44 for just a oil change.
Strengths: Never had a tow-home as yet...that's when I sell.
I haven't tested airbags of hish tensile steel as yet, buddy got hit head-on in a Ridgeline at highway speed from some "heart attack" coming the other way. He survived.
Yes the Pilot is 4400 lbs of secure, safe driving machine.
the only time I ever got it stuck when after taking a run at a packed snowdrift in Stratford Ont...had to Bobcat all around the pilot
Weaknesses: some stupid Honda ideas about security. when I park in the garage at home, if the drivers window is down, but doors locked...if I reach in to unlock the door, security alarm goes off...so run inside, find the keys to disable the alarm. Has also happened on a jobsite. WTF
The dealer installed trailer hitch has spalled off most of the paint. POS
Hatch lift cylinders suck for the past few years
Radio clock has never kept proper time, was replaced under warranty several times
the extended warranty was a waste of money, any parts that failed barely made it over the deductable & never on the same dealer visit.
Similar Products Used: ford Explorer & my wife's Murano (much better mileage + stability control (also a 2003), lower cost.

Summary: Great Small SUV,Loaded and a Great GPS
system.Milage could be a little better
19-20 MPG. The people that don't like this small SUV ,wouldn't like it, if the truth hit them in the face.
FACT is this is a great car ,with lots of power, and very nice heated leather seats.
I would go for honda to have a hatched
back window, and a little better MPG.
But over all Great SUV.
Strengths: Nice smooth,quite drive
Super Brakes (maybe to much)
NON auto locking doors ( If I want them locked I'll Lock them)
Weaknesses: Needs a Hatched rear window.
Accessories very expensive. (Honda)
