Review 1 of 127

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
I had enough of paying high rates with progressive after a year. I originally went to them cause they are the only ones who carry dui drivers. After the dui came off my record I was going to switch insurance companies. In april of 2007 I received a letter in the mail to renew my policy in a month, ummmmm nope.... I switched to state farm. I now almost a year later am now receiving calls from a collection agency , first stating they were renewal charges, and now they say they are cancellation charges. Well the law in my state says they need to give you 60 day notice of cancellation to cancel which I never received before the renewal , second they told me it was for the renewal, well the letter said payment due on this date for renewal, guess what I did not pay it why renew it under your own agreement? I would and will never recommend progressive to anyone, not for any reason. watch your back

Strengths:
NONE

Weaknesses:
everything they do is a lie.. and they will charge you for something you dont want

Review 2 of 127

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
I own a auto repair shop and have had many many encounters with Progressive Insurance Co on the claims end of auto repairs. First they will try to steer your repair to one of their repair shops where they have complete control of the repairs to your car. Now please realize that your intrests and their intrests in your car are miles apart. Yours naturally are to get a quality and safe repair in a timley fashion but theirs is to repair it as cheaply as possible and when there's a problem (and there will be!)who do you complain to? So don't go there and pick your own repair shop. Now I have to tell you right up front that they'll throw in all kinds of road blocks. They'll drag their feet. They won't want to pay for proper repairs. They'll want to use non OEM (original) parts on your car. In short, they will do what ever they can to cut the cost of the repair and they don't care about you or your car!! Please understand that you've become an expence to their business. Most insurance companys operate in this manner, to a point, but progressive is, by far, the worst. But there is hope. If you take your car to a reputable body shop, they will supervise your repair with the insurance company. They're the experts that know the good parts from the junk. They want to do a good job because they want your business again if you need it. And how do you find a good body shop? Don't go for adds on TV or adds in the newspaper. Ask your friends and neighbors. They'll know. If you want to know who the good insurance companys are, e-mail me: larrylawrence946@hotmail.com. I'll tell you!

Strengths:
I'd like to give them credit for hiring young people but I don't think they do this out of any sence of helping them. I think they do it because they're cheaper.

Weaknesses:
They hire young people and don't give them enough training to do a proper job, which is handle the repair of your car.

Review 3 of 127

Price Paid:  $0.00 from Michigan

Summary:
I am currently fighting Progressive Michigan Insurance for severe injuries I sustained in a rear-end collision. They are fighting me on this. I've lost my home, good credit rating(unpaid medical bills, foreclosure) and am about to become homeless. They are hiring Drs to lie on medical reports that there is nothing wrong.

Since I probably won't receive any compensation from Progressive insurance, guess who will be paying for my medical needs, food stamps, shelter, etc...? You, the taxpayers. Sorry.

I have brain damage, multiple spinal injuries, etc... Now their lawyers are trying to find a away to blame me for part of the accident. I was sitting at a red light. They are trying to say my brain damage(positive MRI) is nothing but pre-accident depression and psychiatric problems and that my spinal injuries(positive MRI) are really from arthritis. Nine herniated disks and radiculaopathy...give me a break! I also suffer from post accident seizures.

They also kept emphasizing in that I never attended high school (what the hell does that have to with accident?) (have college degree though--they didn't want to hear about that) My work history, etc... A lot of questions in deposition were asked in a very confusing way getting me to answer ways that I never meant to. They are very aware I have processing and memory problems. They will do anything to win the case.

For those of you that believe that Progressive has been good to them; think again. All positive reviews I have seen for Progressive have to do with vehicle damage, not people's injuries. See what happens to you when you get injured and it's not your fault. They will fight you tooth and nail not to pay you.
Just do some internet searches on injured people getting messed over by insurance companies. Most of the cases here in Michigan are being tossed out of court because of the Kreiner decision in 2004. They are fighting any fix to the Kreiner decision saying it will open up the gates to frivilous lawsuits and will raise insurance rates. Another lie! Those kind of lawsuits have been gone for years here in MI and as far as the rates going up, most of what you pay for insurance is for collision, not injuries.

Oh, and forget about purchasing underinsurance/uninsured coverage(insurance in case someone hits you that's under or non-insured). I bought the insurance and now they don't want to pay it. So, now I am fighting 2 insurance companies. They won't pay my lost wages, although law here in MI, my medical bills, my household services, etc... (PIP benefits) The medical insurance for life law is a joke. My lawyer states I will be fighting them the rest of my life on getting them to pay for medical costs having to do with accident.

Why should the taxpayers have to pay for the insurance companies greed? Profit over People is their thinking.

This crap has got to stop! People deserve better than this.

Strengths:
Their commercials. Every time I see one I want to throw something at the TV.

Weaknesses:
Everything!!! They are nothing but scam artists!

Review 5 of 127

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2001 Hyundai Accent

Summary:
I had an accident where my car was considered a total loss. The adjuster was a jerk- he undervalued my car and at first denied my right to an independent assessment. When I argued with him, he started yelling and calling my car "that thing." I talked to his supervisor, who didn't care at all. I later had a meeting with him, where I stood for an hour in a cubicle shared by four people, because I was never offered a chair. Never use this company- their service is terrible and they make money by ripping off their clients.

Strengths:
None

Weaknesses:
Bad service, slow claims processing, deliberately undervalue vehicles
