The 2007 Sedona is a 4-door, 7-passenger mini van, available in 3 trims, ranging from the Base SWB to the EX LWB.
Upon introduction, both trims are equipped with a standard 3.8-liter, V6, 250-horsepower engine that achieves 18-mpg in the city and 25-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.
The Base SWB is all-new for 2007. The 2007 EX LWB is a carryover from 2006.
Summary: Here are a few items to consider before buying a Kia Sedona mini van. The first 12,000 miles were fine. Between 13-80,000 miles I have spent close to $4000 on non warranty related repair bills. This does not include routine maintenance.
Brakes, rotors, headliner, hardware inside, slider door hardware, a/c and lines 2 times plus recharged it, it's still not working by the way, heater lines 3 times and control knob won't work on 4, transmission, windshield wiper motor and constant issues with back wiper, alternator, passenger seat belt, tie rod ends, wheel bearings, gas tank pressure problems, multiple engine leaks, brought it to kia for several check engine light and airbag warning light issues. There have been other problems as well. This van is not dependable, Kia never has parts in stock, each visit requires 3-4 days to fix, plan on this van breaking down every 3-4 months after the first year. I live 30 miles away from the Kia dealership and was promised a rental car when repairs were being made to my van, this promise lasted the first year only. The warranty has major loop holes, the tech's can never duplicate the problems during the first visit, the paint starts rustingt after 5 years. Gas mileage stinks. I was told by the General Manager at Berline City that Kia won't look for problems, unless it's safety related when they are making a diagnosis, the customer has to identify a specific problem. I guess you should only buy their vehicles if you are ASE Certified and can tell Kia excatly what needs to be fixed. After I was told that by the manager it made me realize Kia is not about satisifying their customers and I can not be convinced to buy another Kia.
Strengths: I can't think of one thing that I love about this van, the TV/DVD player is great but that was an after market installation, maybe it's why it still works?
Weaknesses: Kia in general

Summary: The Kia warranty is filled with holes. I was driving my family on the New York State thruway in an ice storm when we started to experience car trouble. We had a grinding noise and got off to find that power steering fluid was low and we were leaking fluid. We quickly drove to the nearest auto shop that was open to have it repaired to the tune of $251. The power steering cooler needed to be replaced.
This product was under warranty, but Kia will not honor it because it was not done at a Kia dealer. Buyer beware: the NY State thruway is a "restricted road" not covered by Kia roadside service. Their tow trucks will not go on this road. On a previous occasion, I had to change a flat in a snowstorm on the thruway because Kia roadside would not come.
Even though I had my family in my car in an ice storm, Kia would have expected me to wait for a tow truck and go to a Kia dealer which would have been unable to help me on a late Saturday afternoon. We would have had to do two days of hotel stays to get the car fixed under warranty. The people at "customer care" kept referring me to page 10 of the warranty book. Read the fine print--there is no flexibility.
I would not buy a Kia product again due to this lack of help.
Strengths: Inexpensive
Weaknesses: Unreasonable warranty.

Summary: Just bought a brand new Kia Sedona LX. We love the roomy van. We had a Mazda 5 and found it too small for three growing children. We also love the fact that the back has its own air conditioner controls. We felt we got a pretty good price but had to haggle a lot at the dealer. They wanted $29,000. we got it for $26,000. out the door.
Strengths: Roomy, lots of leg room in front and back, air conditioner vents and controls in back as well as front, stow away back seats. 60,000 mile warranty , solid doors, well built. Supposedly priced lower than other vans like Honda and Toyota.
Weaknesses: Dealer mark up.

Summary: I actually love my van, have had no problems, except with service. Was told by Ragsdale that I needed to have my timing belt changed at 40,000 miles, called a mechanic to do it and was told that after contacting a Kia Supply store that I did not even have a timing belt that I have a timing chain and no maintance was required, so I called a few more dealerships and was given anywhere from 60,000 miles to 80,000 miles. Finally I called Kia directly and was told it should be stated in my owners manual I explained that it didn't even have timing belt in the index, so he looked and said that I had a timing chain and that there was no required maintenace but he wanted to check something else, came bach and said it needed to be done a 60,000 miles, but wanted to check something else, came back and said no he was right the first time it didn't need any maintenace. So I called Ragsdale and gave them a piece of my mind, they said that they had done plenty timing belt replacements and they would have the manager call me. The manager returned my call with in a few minutes asked what type of vehicle I drove and explained that the 2006 Sedona was the year they changed it and that I did have a timing chain and no maintance was needed for that. When I asked him why they had told me I need to have that done, he explained that they didn't have the model I drove down for some reason and that was what was causung the confusion. I know when I called other dealerships I told them the year, they even repeated it back to me and I was still told that it had to be done at 60,000. I am just wondering if anybody with a 2006 Sedona has had their timing belt changed at 40,000 or 60,000 miles and if you had you may want to contact Kia derectly and find out what they say and then you probably would like to contact your lawyer. I have even gone on line to a Kia parts place and they have no timing belt for a 2006 Kia sedona, I have also called other part suppliers and they have no listing of a timing belt for a 2006 Kia Sedona. My van is wonderful at 40,500 mile in a year and a half I have had no problems, knock on wood, but as far as Kia dealers go be very warey and get a second opinion because I have a feeling that if I had brought it in to have my timing belt changed they would have done it and charged me the $400, and not blinked an eye.
Strengths: Drive great, looks great, plenty of room
Weaknesses: service and confused dealers
