Review 1 of 38

Price Paid:  $250.00 from CNE Speedshop Pomona

Year / Model Reviewed:
1985 MSD 6-Offroad PN 6470

Summary:
Intallation was a breeze. MSD included all of the parts needed for installation. Instructions were simple. The product did exactly what it said it would do. I have a cam and could never get the idle to calm down, with the MSD box installed the truck now idles perfect. I no longer have to constantly adjust my carb. The throttle is more reponsive. The power gain wasn't anything outrageous but it's deffenitly there, I have a 1975 Chev Small Block 400 w/ a 4bolt main and a mild cam and aftermarket heads stock intake and Edelbrock AVS Thunder offroad which is an awsome product as well. I am runnign my stock gm hei distributer w/ the upgraded msd coil. Very happy with the product...

Strengths:
Price, Ease of intallation, Did what it promised.

Weaknesses:
The instructions/manuals don't say anything against running your stock coil. and it should because it didn't work as good w/ my stock gm coil.

Price Paid:  $284.00 from Keith Craft Racing

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 MSD / 6AL

Summary:
Car only has 1400 miles on it. MSD 6AL box sputtered at 3000 to 5500 rpm. Then car backfired when letting off gas and then died totally. Had to trailer home. Very little time on box and it is already dead.

Strengths:
I really like the rev. limiter feature but will not buy it again because of the poor reliability

Weaknesses:
Reliability

Review 3 of 38

Price Paid:  $300.00 from Murrays Speed and Cu

Year / Model Reviewed:
2000 MSD 6A

Summary:
HORRIBLE PRODUCT! DO NOT BUY! My 2000 Honda accord barely starts in morning, didnt see any diffrence in throttle response and the worst was the other day as i was leaving from work, i was doing about 60 and my car just died, I had no throttle, left me stranded in the middle of the road for about 20 minutes, when after cranking the car about 100 times it finally barely started and I was able to basically crawl over to my house.

Strengths:
NONE

Weaknesses:
Everything, if you wnt to be left stranded in the middle of the road this is the product for you

Review 4 of 38

Price Paid:  $300.00 from the store

Year / Model Reviewed:
 MSD 6AL

Summary:
actually my frend who is a mechanic installed it in his Integra and in his friends box-like 240sx the integra was automatic but there was really a difference starting it was easier and faster, acceleration was increased, rpm reached 7500. when he installed it in his frends stadard 240sx that thing would give u a headache cuz the throttle response and sensitivity was so high, every time u speed shift ur head wud fly back this is one cool upgrade for a car. Too bad you cant install it on new cars with coils.

Strengths:
better acceleration, higher rev, gas is sensitive

Weaknesses:
it fried in my frends box-like 240sx, so they had to remove it.

Review 5 of 38

Price Paid:  $400.00 from summit

Year / Model Reviewed:
1992 6al ignition, blaster coil, super cundutor plugs, cap n rotor

Summary:
yeeeh haw. MSD improved response, sound, and hp, my truck will chirp in second now. Nice compliment to cold intake, freeflow exhaust, chip, throttle body spacer. Truck is a new animal. Get the wireing harness and some coregeted wire cover. Hesitation did occur only because i knocked a sensor out/vaccume line, replaced with no troubles. An easy upgrade thats well worth a days work.

Strengths:
real fun to drive, hoping to pass smog with lower emissions.

Weaknesses:
need better brakes, strange smell from engine and exhaust after one day, hoping it will go away and mabey its just the smell of everything breaking in. Mounting was the most time consuming.
