Review 1 of 1

Price Paid:  $50.00 from MacNevins, Rockhampt

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2001

Summary:
I tried very hard to like these speakers...but unfortunately they''re just not that great. Granted, they''re cheap, so this can be forgiven. Overall, avoid Pioneer''s cheap range speakers...you will be better served by a 4" coaxial from a brand such as JL or Blaupunkt, for not much more money. Personally I have never really liked Pioneer speakers in general...you have to pay serious $$ to get a passable speaker. Pioneer headunits are a different story, of course.

Strengths:
Good tones through the coaxial tweeter, very clear. Also, not much distortion, even at high volumes. Crank the treble up, bass down, and fade towards the front with some Sash! playing, and you''ll be surprised just how good the high freq. detail is with these speakers.

Weaknesses:
Dreadful bass response. I would use these primarily as a front soundstage coaxial in a system where a subwoofer is involved. Otherwise, these speakers pop and bounce back off the limit of the voicecoil each time a modest bass-hit is played through them.

Similar Products Used:
Dodgy cheap 4" dualcones from SuperCheap Auto...had better midbass, ironically. Factory 4" speakers were good (despite being paper) but were somewhat fried by my h/u''s wattage.
