My mother bought this car when I was still in school used. I think she bought it in 2006. 4 days after she bought the vehicle the transmition was out. The dealer played some games with her and then decided it was only right to pay for the fixes. about four months later... it happens again! Thanksfully the dealer had bought a warrenty for the transmition from the first round. 2 weeks later a couple of the sencors went out for the transmition. It still runs but sometimes wont shift right. The wipers are constantly having breaking linkages. The rear wiper quit 2 times so we gave up buying motors for it. I just dont use it anymore. I go on a lot of vacations that are around 1000 miles round trip and I always have to add oil to it several times. It misteriously eats oil and nobody can tell me why at the honda dealers. So when my mom was going to trade it off I had $1000 and she sold it to me. I knew about everything but needed a ride fast. I hardly drive it anymore. I have a chevrolet truck that eats gas but has never let me down so I just pay more for gas and let that honda sit. Saving up for a chevrolet tahoe. I will never buy a forign rig again unless its a toyota. The good qualities of this vehicle is the sound system, body style (not the body quality, it sucks) and the room. Another thing that they could have fixed was the 4x4. They should have not used oush button. It should havve been lock in hubs

Okay, so I bought this garbage a year ago thinking it was Honda....Worst car ever...since I bought it used I've spent over $5000 plus and only have been driven for about 14 months now! The crazy part is that I just got into the 100k miles and every time I change something on this car my mechanic tells me that the part is not original "meaning the part was already changed" Hear is a run down....water pump, both catalyctic converters, muffler, 2 times flex wheel broke and needed to be replaced, starter,bolt bearings,2 alignments,Oxygen sensors,wheel berrings,oil leak,filter leak,exhaust leak,2nd transmission,tune up,timing belt,lube belt....I can go on all day...and all of this since I started driving the vehicle still giving me problems. Do ur self a favor stay away!!!!

I have a 2000 Passport. In 3 years, I replaced the transmission 3 times. I even tried to interchange with a Rodeo tranny. That does not include the minor repairs (brakes, filters, pumps) that I have done. Now I need a new engine, what a bust!

I truely had the problem with my SUV for some times now, I bough this truck new 1995 and now 130K mile, it run great I love this truck I have been driving every where for camp out every month for boyscout outing, and even I have full my 21 feet boat for fishing,that 's what I need for this truck it powerfull and good feeling for it ,
how ever I have been changing out spark plug so often now, oil getting in so full up to the point smoky out the pip, and I have been redo all head gasket seals, and new seals for spark plugs, it still problem,I gave up this lovely truck still in great condiction inside out,
and I will buy GM car it cheaper to taking care of,I don't have to deal with this problem,

I've had this vehicle sinc 2001. A friend of mine had a Rodeo and I loved it but I am a Honda Fanatic so I went with the Honda. This has been an excellent truck over the years. I have moved 2x in it, I cary photo equipment on the regular and I drive like a mad woman (I admit) but it does burn oil like nobodys business!!! I thought it was just me until I read the reviews. I had to have the gear shifter replaced, it had gotten to the point where it would only move when I did it (I had a special touch) so taking it to be repaired was a problem, but I didnt have to worry about anyone stealing it ;-). It ran great in the snow storm of 2002. I had just purchased my house and I was going to be dang if I wasnt going to go paint it that day. I read the book, learned how to put it in 4-wheel drive and I was outta there!!! I had the transmission repaired once. I have over 140k miles and I drive my truck hard. Its rough and I don't know if its my truck or if its supposed to be like that but nothing major. I did have the fuel gage replaced for $400. (a friend did it). I put the ac on with the heat to keep the windows from fogging up in the winter ( a trick Honda told me about) and it works great. I just purchased another Accord but I refused to trade my baby in. I love this truck!!! Where are the I (heart) my Honda bumper stickers.

This is a great suv. Ive had to watch the oil but good gas milage Something under the vehicle radils great in snow and mud never got stuck looks kinda of cheap inside got a rip off at the dealer because they didnt fix the doors so now they pop every once and a while

4 wheel drive is great in snow, roomy, been a great family car up until the 140,000 mile mark

Latch/swing gate that holds the wheel on the back broke from the constant opening and closing so I've had it tied closed for 6 years or so now - too expensive to have it fixed!, ride isn't so smooth, windows fog easily and defroster doesn't work well.

Bought car used, think I was the 2nd owner. I've had it for 8 years now and it is at 163,800 miles. Everything was really great until I reached 140,000 miles. Had to rebuild the transmission and have had a constant oil leak, power windows are weak, current problem is the car overheats and can't seem to be fixed by any mechanic. Replaced clutch fan and radiator hoses in an attempt to cure the overheating. Didn't help. Can run car about 45 minutes before engine gets hot and moves near the "red" zone. Just last week the battery light, the right turn signal, the empty gas light, and the brake light all come on at the same time and then turn off after about a minute. Weird. Electrical issue going on obviously. Some minor issues - drip in the sunroof, door gaskets loose, seatbelts get stuck in the door (had to replace door lock mechanism because door was stuck in the lock position and couldn't get it unlocked, crappy defroster. But I'm over 163,000 miles so I guess all this is to be expected. Car is 12 years old and think it's time for it to be retired.

Cargo space, smooth ride, convenient cup holders, storage spaces, etc. Decent gas mileage at 22 mpg (not bad for an SUV).

Expensive to fix when something goes wrong. $700 for a fuel pump!

This has been a very good vehicle for me. My brother has a 1995 Passport and has always liked it, so I bought the 1998 when I found it. It had 67,000 miles on it when I purchased it and I have added another 103,000 over the past 3+ years. That makes a lot of miles in our family (my brother's has over 200,000 and mine has 170,000). No major problems with this other than the fuel pump went out and had to be replaced, but it had over 150,000 on it, so things will go wrong. Since they replaced the fuel pump the gas gauge has not worked (I plan to take it back and expect it to be fixed free of charge). The AC is currently not working, but I think it just needs a charge of freon. This car rides great and I have hauled tremendous amounts of stuff in it. I LOVE IT!

EVERYTHING...THIS VEHICLE is a joke.

This vehicle is a P.O.S. From day 1, it has given us problems. I wish I knew what I know today about it before I bought it. Just my luck. For less than 5 months, the vehicle was working fine, but after that, our 1st and 2nd gears in the transmission went out, so I could drive, but only in Winter mode, and we did that for 3 years. Not to mention the dealer screwed me over with the price and the lender, never ever buy from the dealer again. The vehicle was running even without 1st and 2nd, just using winter mode,until we decided it was time to fix the transmission. So we did a rebuilt. Now, I don't know what rebuilt means to the mechanic, but I would assume that it means replace everything that is bad. Well, i take the vehicle to the mechanic (who also happens to be horrible and did screw me over too) $2700. He exclaims left and right that "yah, it's running good, I drove it and it's great". Two days go by, the transmission begins to stutter. So I take it back, "don't look like it's running good to me". So he takes it and says it's a 2nd rear band. I ask him why he didn't change that in the first place, he says because it looked good and still functional? What?? He left used parts in it. So to make a long story short, DON'T EVER BUY A HONDA PASSPORT, LET US WHO ALREADY HAVE BE THE VOUCHERS FOR THAT. I'm also surprised as to why no one has try to put in a lawsuit w/ Honda for this vehicle? Isn't there any justice in vehicle purchasing? A lot of these problems that the vehicle is having can very well cause accidents or even death? Especially if the transmission went out on the highway, like ours did. Is Honda waiting for casualties to happen before they'll decide to recall all these vehicles and disallow dealers to further market them? If anyone is interested in starting a lawsuit against Honda for this unsafe vehicle..I'm with you. I'm sure there are plenty who are willing to join in the suit. Basically, too much money is put into fixing the vehicle that it exceeds the value of the vehicle? Where's the logic and justice in that? Honda should really be ashamed of themselves, no disrespect to all the REAL honda vehicles. This car makes me sick and I hate it...i wish I could just make it disappear..but it won't go away..

The Honda Passport is a pretty cool car, of course i have had the standard problems (gas gauge, burning oil) over all it's a nice car. You have to pay good attention to the oil levels, if you forget you'll find yourself needing a new engine. once you got that down you got a car that's strong enough to gather all a musicians gear and friends in one vehicle.
