from Good Guys Year / Model Reviewed: Boston Acoustic RM9 Summary: I compared these to 6x9 Infinity 3 way, Pioneer, Eclipse coaxial, JL Audio coaxial, and Sony 3 way speakers. This model is clearer and has better imaging and full range than the others I listened to. The sound is well balanced, does not have annoying "missing spots" in the range they reproduce. Impressive.
The coaxial arrangement tends to be superior to 3 way designs as small speakers cannot adequately produce sound in 3 distinct ranges, and the two small speakers are a tweeter and "super-tweater" which tend to compromise the pereformance. The RM9's faithfully produce nice vocals and instruments with a pleasantly balanced range. Strengths: Good imaging, clarity, no dropout spots in coverage. Nicely designed. Good compliment to the Boston ProSeries 6.5 component set. Weaknesses: Cost a bit much, but worth it. Similar Products Used: Listened to models listed above. I have a nice home audio system as reference.
