Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $60.00 from Circuit City

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 9603i

Summary:
Very nice speakers. They provide good full range sound. They have to have an amp to them. A deck can't supply enough power to get good sound. But if they have the power, these speakers rock. They put out good bass, and the mids and highs are well defined. I have these running of a Rockford 250.2 amp, and they bump. They aren't a replacement for a big sub, but they could fool you for a ten. A bit pricey unless you get them at ebay, or have a bunch of gift cards to Circuit City as I did.

Strengths:
Good bass. Excellent sound quality. Good looks. Good value if you find them for the right price.

Weaknesses:
Need an amp to make them sound good. Can be expensive if you don't look.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $119.00 from Cartoys

Year / Model Reviewed:
2001 Grand Cherokee

Summary:
First of all, i'm very particular with my sound system. I put these in my front doors to replace the factory woofers that came with the infinity gold system. Well, first, i put a pair of the CDT Audio CL-63 Braxials in there and, even with the dash speakers running, it seemed weak. This is even powered off an Alpine MRV-F340 with 45x4. So, went with a wildcard on these 3-ways...and i was pretty blown away. The mids are out of sight! The upper end is crisp, but it's capability for vocals and midrange is its best feature. I've heard people talk about speakers as being smooth, or balanced, and now i think i know what they mean. As an example, i listen to the new Infinity Kappa 653.5i 2-ways in the rear doors, and they are all highs...which i am not too keen on in high volumes. The crossover on the amp is set at 70 hz. At good volume, about 3/4 of amp power, they even put a little bump in the door that the driver can feel. I even cut off the dash tweeters all together and get a very broad, loud soundstage up front. If you are just trying to get rid of the dash tweets, remove those infinity gold woofers, rewire around the x-overs and you'll get a great upgrade with little effort.

Strengths:
Mids Mids Mids...and a little low end. Best value for your dollar here.

Weaknesses:
None observed yet! (fingers crossed)
