Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $75.00 from eBay

Year / Model Reviewed:
 MB Quart DKC 169

Summary:
These speakers sound great. I have 75watts RMS running to them from a Memphis ST3004 and they sound awesome. I'm not an expert on stereos, but the bass on these speakers is almost as good as my friends' systems, and those have 2 10's or 2 12's. These really have almost subwoofer-like bass. The mids and highs sound very clear too. I'm not sure how it would sound with less power but the 75 watts make them sound excellent. For the price of 75 bucks at eBay they can't be beat.

Strengths:
Very very cheap Extremely good bass for a regular speaker good mids and highs

Weaknesses:
I dunno how it would sound with not as much power

Similar Products Used:
pioneer, sony

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $199.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2001

Summary:
Wanted to replace my OEM 6 x 9s in a 1994 Toyota Camry. Didn't want to put in subwoofers or an amp, so I was looking for a quality speaker with a full range. These did the trick! I was nervous about laying out so much, but these are worth it! I'm cheap, but I look for quality. I'm sure I paid more than needed; you could probably find them for much less on the Web. I would buy these again.

Note: Even though these are the two ways (three ways are the DTC 169), I'm more than satisfied with the improvement in mids and hi's AND bass over my OEM Fujitsu Ten brand.

The bass goes very deep, even without amping! Depending on the music and the CD bass recording level, you might feel like you approach sub-type sound with these.

Strengths:
Clarity; honest and transparent sound allowing you to actually hear the resonance of bass drums, nylon stringed guitars, silky violins and tinkly highs.

No amping need for me (Pioneer 45x4W Head unit)!!

Weaknesses:
None really, other than I paid more than needed.

Similar Products Used:
Fujitsu Ten OEM speakers (smaller magnets, not co-ax). Polk EX 692a (the MB DKC 169's dug a little deeper and retained excellent hi's. The Polks are excellent speakers for those who can't afford the Quarts!! I have both and like them both. Polks can be had for around $116 US compared to $199 I paid for the DKC 169s).
