Year / Model Reviewed:
2007 Profi Phase Plug

Summary:
Upon initial inspection, very high quality build was immediately noted. This is a speaker set which was obviously handcrafted with a strict adhereance to attention to detail and cosmetic integrity. I liken their appearance to a new Porsche 911. The midbass drivers were mounted in stock locations, low, up front, in the front doors. Tweeters were mounted on-axis on the kick panels. Both door panels were covered with three layers of Dynamat Extreme and one 12" x 12" layer directly behind each mid with eggcrate foam glued to it to reduce and absorb backwaves. Housing for the mids is accomplished with two 3/4" MDF rings stacked. On with the subjective analysis, how they perform! After the required break-in time of 10 hours, these babies really opened up. They sounded beautiful during the run-in period but their true potential jumped to life around hour 20. Due to a top notch install, by yours truly, awesome midbass response was easily achieved. Thanks to the built-in properties of the phase cone the imaging and stability of the midrange frequencies are exceptional to say the least. Clarity and detailed nuances are projected with authority and reaches the ear with a smooth approach and landing. Overall, everything you could ever want in a speaker the Profi Phase Plug driver delivers with ease. Outstanding characteristics of this set include; natural sound reproduction (neither adds nor takes anything away from original source material), and precise and lifelike delivery of sound. One of the most natural sounding components I've ever heard. Can't ask for more than that. Steller presence and realistic soundstage due in part to the amp applied to these offering up over 200 Watts bridged per side from a Zapco Z400C4-SL. The tweeters share all these great qualities but do so in a higher frequency range. The ability of these two different drivers to blend leaves no room for complaint. And did I mention the top range for these? 35,000 Hertz! Very nice. You gotta love german technology done right. The crossovers ain't to bad either.
