Summary:
Hmmm... 7 reveiews all on the same day with perfect scores? Sounds a little fishy to me. My friend had a 944. Bought it just so he could say he owned a Porsche. It was a slow, ugly, unreliable piece of junk.

Strengths:
Great car for those that must own a Porsche on a Corolla budget.

Weaknesses:
Slow and unreliable.

Summary:
I paid about 14K for the car. For a 9 year old car it is great shape, but needs a few cosmetic things (aside from the mechanical noted above). I just replaced the boot shifter and the seal around the rear hatch lock. I still need to re-do the steering while and replace the cracked dash. The center console needs replacement. But over all, with 73K, this is a great car!

Strengths:
I love the feel, and the handling. The NA 3.0L is no slouch either. I can take most non-turbo cars on the road and watch out on those curves!

Weaknesses:
Cost of maintainence. 2K to get the car up to snuff (belts, water pump, filters, etc). But still very worth it.

Summary:
I would recomend it for people who want a exotic car who don twant to break their bank account, an dwith some added performance parts, you will be driving the fastest car around.

Strengths:
I upgraded it with Porsche twin turo's, and an advanced racing suspension,and bbs racing wheels. i raced a brand new Corvette zo6 off the showroom floor and wentto a track. He accelerated quicker, but when we go to corner one i dumped the clutch an dwen tinto third gear(power gear) and just smoked him, I haven tdrove a car that could handle the way min e does. A radar caught me doin 192mph in a 65, how crazy is that!

Weaknesses:
If i could find one id tell you, its one pist off mother F***ker!

It compares really good for the price, it is a true exotic work of art.The only street race I lost was to a Lamborghini Diablo, an dmine was alot cheaper.

1991 944 S2 Cabriolet

Summary:
This is my 2nd sports car. First was an old Triumph that was fun to drive but topped out at 80 mph and needless to say... this was a stressful 80mph. This Porsche is incredible. Purchased from the original owner who babied this car to the extreme. Full documentation from day one. 37,000 original miles. Only body dmg is one door ding on rt front fender. Vehicle is showroom condition. Interior is perfect with the exception of the stock Blaupunkt cassette deck that has presently been upgraded. Handles like its attached to the road with superglue. Nice and quiet with the top up, but I must say, this is a rarity because its a convertible. With the top down there enough wind in the cab to make me happy but enough stays out to keep my wife smiling. Engine has plenty of bottem end power but I really like the 5500-6500 power band. My original plan was to find a 911 sc targa but everything I looked at had 150k, poor maintenance records or an extremely proud owner. Proud in price that is. The sticker price on my car was $51,395. To pick it up for less than 1/3 the original price in such pristine condition makes me think these 944's are overlooked as a high performace sports car.

Strengths:
1. Style ---It's a Porsche, enough said 2.Insurance---My insurance co. rates my car as an intermediate performance veh. Rates are about the same as my Jeep cherokee. Go figure?? 3. Performance -- German engineering,speed, handling at a rice burners price.

Weaknesses:
1. After reading through other reviews it seems like cost of maintenance is high. My car is due for timing belt service in 6k miles. Priced it out at an independent Porsche and seemed about the same as the last Honda Accord timing belt I had to replace . I reserve the right to change this opinion once my car gets in the shop for service though. 2. Every damn punk kid with his slammed acura, eclipse or civic wants to race. I just crank the tunes and look ahead. 3. I've been to a couple Porsche meets. I'm tired if hearing the 911 owners tell me that real Porsche's are aircooled. It gets a little old. I would put money on a stock 944s2 vs. a 911 any day in a track race. Especially since I dont have the time to "learn" how to drive a 911. I'm having too much fun driving my own "real Porsche".

1991 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet

Summary:
Great ride, totally unique styling. The best thing about this car is its handling; have never driven anything that has outhandled this car, and I used to be a valet driver, so I've driven the best. It's like driving a sports car while dreaming; the degree of subtle handling capable with the 944 is unmatched. When I replaced the stock chip with one designed by Steve Rossokov, she really woke up though. Not just in terms of HP increase (estimated 10 to 15), but also in basic driveability, engine warmth and response, and fuel mixture. It's as if the chip allowed the car to function as she were truly, originally meant to, instead of being imposed with some foreign limitation. I've got the Cabriolet, and while I wasn't looking for this when I was shopping for a 944, now I love the option of going topless. Living in Southern California, there are many opportunities to enjoy this, if one is willing to give up a degree of privacy. On a scale of 1 to 10 of user satisfaction, I'd definitely score her a 10, without exaggeration. It's one of the rare times when user expectation actually met or surpassed practical application. This includes categories of styling, which is just drop-dead sexy (mine is black), handling (unsurpassed), uniqueness (have only seen 1 other in L.A. so far), performance (not a turbo, but I don't need the tickets anyway, and I'm not racing her on a track), and mystique. This is the most exciting vehicle I've owned since my 1992 Suzuki GSX-R 1100; but then again, I've a greater chance of survival with the Porsche.

Strengths:
Handling, performance, uniqueness, design/styling, 50/50 weight balance, quiet cockpit even with convertible top, well-designed interior - nothing gaudy or fancy or unnecessary, rigid frame

Weaknesses:
Tends to run hot, have to be careful in summer months; am considering a cooling system overhaul/rebuild; labor is pretty expensive (e.g. new Sachs clutch, $1650), the audio system is really pretty horrible, am going to do something about it as soon as I can afford to
