from Tirerack Year / Model Reviewed: 2002 SVT Focus Summary: I bought a set shaved to 5/32"'s and heat cycled them myself. So far have 5 summer track days, 3 autoX's and probably can get another 3 track days out of them. Not as grippy as Hoosiers, v700's or Victoracers, but these tires seem to last about 3X as long and provide just slightly less primo grip. Strengths: Incredible grip, not as heat cycle sensitive as other R's, and long lasting. Seem to heat up quickly and only get greasy after some serious abuse. Can't really beat this level of bang for buck performance. Stiff sidewalls require much less air pressure, and in my case less negative camber was needed for proper heating and wear patterns compared to my street setup. Only other tire that seems to have the same level of bang for buck and longevity is the Toyo RA-1's. Weaknesses: Loud on the street. On the track you'll never hear it, but if you plan to street drive these tires, they seriously sound like mud boggers. Similar Products Used: Contisports and Kumho MX's, but this was my first R.
