Review 1 of 52

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2007 jeep

Strengths:
None

Weaknesses:
They are not insurers. They delegate to an underwriter. All they do is collect fees and be the front for the underwriters.

Summary:
Unfortunately had an accident while having AAA as my insurance. Their accounting dept forgot to withdraw my monthly payment from checking account although they acknowledged having received my request and example check. Since they forgot, their other department canceled my policy without my knowledge. 3 months after start of policy, my wife was involved in fender bender and we learned that they declined due to a canceled policy. Hours of explanation with their office changed nothing. They are scum ... I paid all myself to avoid the collection agency from the other party ... Never again will I use amateurs that pose for professional insurance agents ! They talk the talk but they dont walk the walk !!

Review 3 of 52

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 Honda Element

Summary:
I was recently in a car accident and my car totaled by an 88 year old lady who, in my opinion, should have never been behind the wheel. I have to say that I wish I had a better auto insurance company than AAA. It feels like I'm doing all the leg work and in an effort to get the answers to what do I do next they are not even returning my calls. When I was in a fender bender a few years ago I had Esurance and they were fantastic. I filed the claim and they took it from there-touching base with me from time to time. This is what I get for trying to save a buck.

Review 4 of 52

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
1993 Ford Probe GT

Strengths:
I can't fault them for their speed. They arranged to have my vehicle towed almost immediately. Service up to that point was fast and great. They sent out my check for the estimated work. Service up to that point was still fast and great.

Weaknesses:
When it came to having my car mechanically fixed... suddenly all that great service went down the toilet. It was frustrating to have my car sit there for over a month... while *I* had to do all the work. I made all the calls. I drove down to the bodyshop myself. I had to do all the communication and be the middle man. I'm the one who was hit by one of *THEIR* insured drivers.

Summary:
I personally am not insuranced through AAA. A while back a man crashed into the side of my car while it was parked at work. He was gracious enough to leave a note on my car, and by the time I discovered the damage and had called him... he had already filed the claim. I was pleasantly surprised by his responsiveness and was eager to get the claim all squared away and have my vehicle either repaired or totaled out.

I called AAA and the CSR I talked to was helpful. The next day my car was towed off to one of their "authorized" repair centers. One of their adjusters went out and soon after I got a fax of the quote to repair my vehicle. The quote was for $2200 some odd dollars, but was just for body work. It didn't include damage to the rear axle.

That is where my frustrations began to happen. Over the next *MONTH* I constantly had to deal with the body shop and with AAA. To their credit I got the check for the initial estimate, but never to get the rear axle fixed. Instead of the AAA rep calling "their" approved bodyshop... it was left to ME to make all the calls.

The cliffnotes version of our conversations.

Me [to bodyshop]: I have the check for the estimate amount. I'd be more than willing to sign the check over to you to do the bodywork. I need however a quote for the rear axle. I have no doubt you can make my car look like new, but it will do me no good with the rear axle messed up how it is.

Bodyshop: We'll have to get back to you, because the work is done off-site. An AAA adjuster will have to come out and look at the vehicle to look for any mechanical damages.

Me [to AAA]: What is going on with the adjuster? The bodyshop can fix the exterior just fine, but I need to get it mechanically fixed as well.

AAA: I'll call the bodyshop and get it sorted out.

This was essentially what went on for a nearly a month. Me calling back and forth and not receiving ANY positive news at all. In the meantime I was sitting on a check for the estimate, and I was more than willing to pay whomever it f'n took get my car repaired.

Eventually I got so frustrated I ended up towing my car from the bodyshop to my house. I bought an air compressor, impact wrench, impact sockets, and a few other various tools. I went to the junkyard and pulled the entire rear subframe from another Probe. I ended up swapping in all drivers side suspension components, lateral arms, etc, etc by myself.

The body work was never fixed and it was an eyesore. I however ended up with a lot of new tools and a lot of cash left in my pocket.

Review 5 of 52

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 Mazda

Strengths:
Good coverage

Weaknesses:
Everything else-price, employees... just everything.

Summary:
AAA is garbage. My mother has had AAA insurance for almost 30 years so when I've gotten my last few cars i decided to go with AAA to get a discount. I am a poor college student doing the best I possible can in the economy we're living in today. I've tried to pay my insurance in a timely fashion. Whenever I call them or go into a branch to pay my bill they always ask for usually twice the amount thats on my statement. For example, today I called and said I had my $252 payment and i was going to go into my local branch to pay it. Well, surprise! actually your $252 is no good to us, we need $636! They did absolutely nothing to help me and were far from understanding of my financial situation. I cannot wait to find a reasonably priced insurance company that will work with my budget and be understanding of my budget as well! Todays a new day! If you've got lots of extra money to burn, AAA is the insurance company for you!
