Review 1 of 132

Price Paid:  $14000.00 from toyota dealership

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 toyota camry

Summary:
99.9% of the complaints against insurance companies are dealing with claims. .01% of the reviews review their actual service, ease of use, payment plan, rates, and discounts. I've work with auto insurance for 9 years now and out of all the companies, geico's online service is far superior to others.

I am a safe driver unlike the majority of the posters on here. I have had no accidents/tickets in the past 15 years that complain about their claim service. Insurance companies are out to make money not to hand out free checks to idiot drivers who average a ticket or 2 and accident a year. I would laugh at you if you applied with my insurance company.

Review 2 of 132

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
At a stop light and rear-ended by another Geico customer. Was advised by Geico it wasn't his fault b/c a 3rd car hit his car. This was a lie. Had photos to prove it but Geico said I wasn't a car expert and damages were "hidden" after they saw my photos. 2nd driver used the "hit and run" excuse to get me to pay for my damages. Worse Gecio treated me very poorly.

Weaknesses:
Customer Service and Integrity

Review 3 of 132

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
1989 Cadillac deville

Summary:
Geico SUCKS

My daughter ran over a motorcycle that was laying in the road because he(the motorcycle)was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic and got into an accident himself. I was just told (3 months later) that Geico is not paying anything on our claim because she should have seen the motorcycle. It was 9:45 at night, no lights on the road she was on because of construction. She did see the motorcycle as she came upon it but could not swerve to hit it or she would have hit a moving vehicle on either side of her. I would never recommend their insurance. If anyone knows how I can fight this, let me know.

Strengths:
none what so ever

Weaknesses:
To help an innocent victim

Review 4 of 132

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
After reading some reviews I need to clear the air on some things.

1. GEICO, as well as any other insurance company, has a contract. They will only pay for claims according to the contract. If something is excluded or not covered per the contract, the claim wont be covered. I suggest you READ your contract when you purchase insurance.

2. Rates are determined by: age, sex, driving history (accidents & tickets), severity of accidents, $ amount paid on previous claims, garaged zip code, vehicle purpose, type of vehicle, and a few other items. If any of these change in the middle of a contract period, you will not see a rate increase or decrease until the policy renews.

3. GEICO is a for-profit company. They are not in the business of handing out money freely. They are not out to screw people either. They simply make business decisions mainly based on the policy contract with the insured. You cannot blame them for this, it is standard insurance business practice.

4. One of the main purposes of insurance is for PROTECTION from legal liability. GEICO, as well as most other respectable insurance companies are not going to deny a claim just because you FEEL you're not at fault. Insurance companies do not and are not required to use police reports or traffic laws/violations to determine fault. Insurance companies determine fault by using CIVIL law and PROXIMATE CAUSE. Ex.: Car A is parked in a red-zone. Car B backs from a parking spot and strikes car A. Car B is 100% at fault, even though car A was illegally parked.

5. If your car is a total loss, GEICO and any other insurance company, is going to pay the ACTUAL CASH VALUE of the car previous to the accident. Aftermarket mods do not increase the value of the car the amount they cost, they only increase based on a percentage. Insurance is there to make you whole again. If you have a car that could be sold for $10000, but you paid $20000 when it was new, you will receive $10000. ANY RESPECTABLE INSURANCE COMPANY WILL USE AN ACV EVALUATION SERVICE, NOT KBB OR NADA. GEICO is no different.

6. Insurance companies are only required to provide a rental car (if coverage applies) that has comparable SEATING, not size, options, luxury, etc. Also, you will only receive the car for as long as it SHOULD take to repair the car. If the shop you pick lollygags and messes up, THEY should pick up the balance, not the insurance company.

After reading the first 30 or so reviews I'd say 90-95% of them are due to lack of understanding of standard insurance and claims practice.

My advice to everyone, READ YOUR POLICY CONTRACT and if you feel you're being treated unfairly, check with your state's department of insurance or get a lawyer. I'd recommend checking the doi website first because you'll likely pay a bunch of money for a lawyer that will tell you the insurnace company is not doing anything wrong.

Before you go spreading your hatred towards someone or something, educate yourself first. Chances are, you'll be wrong.

Review 5 of 132

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 Honda civic

Summary:
I have been with Geico for 19 yrs. and, due to being out of town my payment was late. I was unaware until today
(no notice) that my insurance was canceled two days ago. I called and explained what had happened. I have NEVER been late on a payment, never filed a claim and perfect record, but they were still going to charge me over $350.00 to continue coverage.
I will no longer be a customer of Geico's !!!!!!!!!!!!!
