from Bloomfield Honda Year / Model Reviewed: 2005 Honda Odyssey Summary: Although I and my family have moved within the state of Michigan over five times since 1987, we have remained loyal to the Tom Rossi Agency, State Farm Insurance in Portage, MI. For twenty years I have paid our premiums in full and on time. What I at once thought was a competent agency has let me down.
Yesterday I received a Notice of NonRenewal from State Farm Insurance letting us know that as of 9/18/07 they will no longer cover my car. This is due to the fact that in the past 3 years the combined [State Farm] points I have accumulated puts me over the threshold of insurability. One accident was me running into an ice patch into a snow bank this past winter and the other was me backing into my dads van in my driveway on Christmas eve two years ago. Both of these accidents were minor and no one was injured.
Over the last three years I have received two speeding tickets were 60 in a 55mph zone and one other one was going 79 on the freeway in a 70mph zone. I drive 35,000 miles a year for my work so the likelihood of a speeding ticket is naturally greater.
What I found out today is that in the state of Michigan, if you have two accidents within a three-year period you automatically become uninsurable within mutual auto policies. This information would have been valuable to me before placing my last claim. Tom Rossi had no such courtesy in letting me know what the end result would be of that claim.
You would think that as a loyal policyholder I would have been the simple courtesy of a phone call informing me that another accident claim would make me uninsurable.
I believe Tom Rossi is an incompetent agent and can in NO WAY be thought of as a “good neighbor”. My good neighbors would never treat me that way. Come to think of it- even my not-so-good neighbors would treat me that poorly.
Our sizable home and all cars are insured by State Farm today. Because of the terrible way we have been treated with one car, State Farm will now loose coverage on all our assets.
State Farm is a company that does not value my business even though I have shown loyalty to them for twenty years with all our homes and vehicles.
Strengths: When they cared about my business they were satisfactorily responsive. Weaknesses: See story above.
