The 2011 Volkswagen Eos is a hardtop convertible aimed at the crowd who like having the benefits of a hardtop, but also like the open-air driving experience. When the hardtop is up, the Eos doesn't look very exciting, but the powertrain delivers a satisfying performance whichever way the hardtop is positioned.

Base engine for the Eos is a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 200 hp and 207 lbs-ft. of torque. EPA fuel economy estimates are 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. The engine may be paired with the standar 6-speed manual or the 6-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox. Fuel economy is a big plus for the 2.0T, with EPA ratings at 21/30 mpg.

When closed, the hardtop provides all the insulation from noise and weather of a coupe. With five panels, the powered roof opens and closes in approximately 25 seconds.
