Description:
(1998 - 2008) The Jaguar S-Type is a 4-door, 5-passenger luxury sedan, or luxury sports sedan.
<
The name was a revival of a previous Jaguar model, the S-Type introduced in 1963, while the bodywork appeared to have been inspired by the Jaguar Mark 2 of the same period. The supercharged 390-horsepower S-Type R was added for 2003. The S-Type is in its final model year for 2008 before the expected arrival of the all-new 2009 XF in March 2008.

Price Paid:  $90000.00 from China

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 Jaguar S-Type 3.0 SE

Strengths:
got everything that a luxury car should have, but means more than a luxury car.
love the leather and wood, so amazing!
Alpine hi-fi with 12 speakers, this perfect audio system in the TOP10 hi-fi list of all auto models by Forbes
good handling, 0-100km 7.6 seconds, feel so comfortable even a long drive
using less petrol than expectation, Approximately 11L/100KM, same as my Audi A6L 2400cc.
Good quality, no faults up to now, 6 mths already

Weaknesses:
No enough leg room at the back
The maintenance cost is even high than M-Benz s-class in China, Fxxk!
one of the two keys broke 2 times already, but has been fixed, annoying!
Expensive, it costs 90,000USD in China.

Summary:
A car means something more than a car with 4 wheels. it expresses its owner's taste, value-orientation and even social class and status. Jaguar S-type is so eye-catching and British-feel, luxurious and elegant, but can reach 100km within 7.6 seconds, and it gives the owner everything he/she pursues. having a Jaguar S-type, what do u still need? nothing! cos u have got everything. why do u still comparing BMW530 or Audi A6 or M-Benz E280? just go for Jaguar!!

Review 3 of 58

Price Paid:  $47000.00 from Hampton Jaguar, serv

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 Jaguar S-Type

Strengths:
The car is no doubt a looker - beautiful lines and woodgrain interior.

Weaknesses:
High cost of repairs, repairs are frequent and several have been big ticket items. See Review Summary above.

Summary:
I believe when you're buying this car you buy it for looks and not reliability. While it's never left me on the side of the road, it has had 2 fuel pumps go bad, the front light turn signal socket has been replaced, the vacuum hose developed a leak, the water reservoir has had to be replaced and the oil pan gasket has developed a leak also. The service department at another dealership tells me now that the disc stability control might need work and that's another $815. This is the third high-end luxury car I've purchased and I've been least pleased with. It's a good thing the car is paid for because I tend to spend several hundred dollars on one repair or another every 2 or 3 months.

Review 4 of 58

Price Paid:  $30000.00 from Texascars.com

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 S-Type

Strengths:
Surprising mileage - combined 20MPG
Firm Handling - it feels like it was made for me
Great brakes and safety features
Excellent sound system
Fun to drive

Weaknesses:
I haven't detected any weaknesses

Summary:
I bought the 2003 S-type 3.0 because I always wanted a Jag and the S-Type was a throw back to the beautiful Mark IVs I first admired as a kid. I have had the car over 3 years and have not been disappointed. No significant problems despite buying the car with 19K miles on it. The car always looks great - purring down the highway or just standing in the garage. It's interesting to watch other people react to it in a parking lot. It gets attention with it's muscular stance and quiet, refined elegance.

Review 5 of 58

Price Paid:  $21300.00 from Pro Star Motors/ Hou

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 S-Type

Strengths:
Too many to list, but fit and finish is great, style is awesome, especially in darker colors. You could eat off the engine and it makes YOU look SOOO GOOD!!!

Weaknesses:
I'm still trying to find some.

Summary:
I bought this car because, it's absolutely beautiful inside and out and because someone else took a lot of the depreciation. It corners like the cat that it is and even with the V-6, it is quick as I'll ever need. (My drag racing days are a nice memory, but in the past.)
This is a piece of designer art that you proudly drive and accept the accolades for your good taste when it turns so many heads. I've heard stories of mechanical problems , mostly on the pre-2003 models, a long time ago, it used to be the electrics on the Jags that were annoying. But, I believe that Jaguar/Ford has been listening to owners and Ford wants this car to be a success story. So in 2003, many improvements and fixes were made. I would recommend this year or newer if you're in the market for a pre-owned Jaguar. But, of course, with repairs on this or any other fine car being what they are, get the best warranty you can so you can have peace of mind while you enjoy this fabulous car.

This is the most bang for your luxury car dollar and does the British proud in my opinion. So far, 700 trouble free miles, and I know it is too soon to access, but I'm going to do everything right as to my responsibilities for maintainence and then there's the warranty if I need it.

Right now though, I am back to a feeling of LOVIN' my car that I've haven't had since I was a young man. It truly is technological and design art made just for you, it's deserving owner.
