The 9-3 is Saab’s midsize sport sedan and convertible. The original Saab convertible was inspired by the U.S. market and debuted in 1986 as the Saab 900. The 900 was succeeded by the 9-3 in 1998 as a 1999 model, with similar styling to the 900 but with more than 1,000 technical improvements. The new 9-3 sport sedan debuted for 2003 as a 4-door sedan, departing from Saab’s history of hatchback designs and the 9-3 Convertible was added for 2004.
