The Regal is powered by a 3.8-liter, 200 hp V-6 or the optional supercharged 3.8-liter V-6 with 240 hp. Both come with a 4-speed automatic transmission and standard ABS. Offered as a 4 door sedan.
Strengths: Comfort, perfect size car, heated seats, very reliable.
Summary: Love this car! We bought it to replace my husbands Cadillac STS, which had lots of regular, expensive repairs. This has been a very reliable car. We've had it for a year and a half, and have put about 19,000 miles on it. Very comfortable, great heated seats, pretty good mileage and roomier than you'd think. Took a trip recently with 4 adults and one 7 yr old - 6 hrs each way - and it worked just fine for people and gear. We bought it for my husband, but I drive it every chance I get.
Strengths: Comfort, comfort, comfort. Extra speed from engine. Nice smoth ride.
A lot of car for the $$. Because the resale value is low, the car is great bought used. Buick really did right by the Regal.
Weaknesses: cup holder placement. Driver side window is weak.
Summary: I've had about 6 cars from various makes prior to my Buick Regal. I researched here and other places before purchasing. I liked how it sat, and wanted the engine to be sound. Buick Customs had issues due to its engines, but Regals didn't have quite the same issues.
After 4 years (brought a 2003 used in 2003 it had 27000 miles already) I have to say I love this car, and have told people I believe my next car is to be a Buick. The car has had normal repairs. Car has 79000 on it now. Went on a 5000 mile trip smoothly. Its starting to sound a little rough now, but its a cold winter, and everything checked out. Engine never gets hot, when you want some extra speed, just press that peddle and hold on. The car LIKES to go above 70 and rides the smoothest I believe at 80.
Since it seems almost all sedans look alike now days, I can't see anyone saying any longer that Buicks are for old ladies/men.
I still feel that this car a great value for the $$.

Strengths: Power, ride, comfort and reliability. Classic styling. Great car for expressway or highway driving.
Weaknesses: An overhead console for sunglasses and garage-door would be a nice addition.
Summary: Best sedan I've ever owned. Put 56K on it with no problems. None. Zero. Only normal maintenance -- oil changes every 3K and tire rotation twice a year. The 3.8 series II is a great engine, smooth and powerful. Loaded with features, this is luxury at an affordable price.

Strengths: 240 HP - more if you add any mods, which I'm planning, leather interior, great air/heating system, heated front seats for winter driving, good highway mpg (around 32 for me), good trunk space. I have had NO problems with this car (knock on wood), although I did buy an extended warranty just in case.
Weaknesses: Low in-town mpg, a little crowded in the back seat (need to put my seat forward when passengers are in the back), small glovebox.
Summary: I have had this car for nearly a year now and I LOVE it! Even with stock parts, it has really good power under the hood. Gives a comfortable ride too. Got it with the Joseph Aboude (sp?) and Olympic packages, so it has just about everything. Tried the LS along with this car to compare and the GS definitely had better power. Just felt more solid underneath me. NOT an old lady car by any stretch! If anyone is planning on getting one, two pieces of advice - tint the windows and peel off the dealer "racing stripes" then buff out the dirt lines it will leave behind. The car will actually look less bulky and made mine look darker - the color is called "graphite" - it now looks almost black without the stripes. VERY fun car that turns heads when driving around town!!

Strengths: I guess you could say that the abrasive supercharger engine is a plus. (if you want a car that drives like this, buy a Z28, I think thats who is going to buy this anyway. People who had Z28, and now have families).
Weaknesses: The list is endless. Poor gas milage, understeer in corners, wind noise, abrasive shifts, small moonroof, heated seats with no auto shut off, cheap cheap leather, plastic everywhere, squeeky dash.
Summary: This car is not worth anywhere near 30k. My parents bought this car about a year ago and I was sick when they did so. The car was a Joseph Abboud Edition or something, give me a break. Lets see for 29K you can get a car that does not have cheap leather, no room, and poor handling; its called a 3 series! Even a new Accord Ex makes this car look like a total waste of money. This car looks and drives like it was designed by a 30 year old American Nas-car fan! Not an engineer.
