Strengths: Great car for the price, no major problems the 7 years I drove it.
Weaknesses: Some of the parts were pretty cheaply made. My seat belt adjustment and the tilt lever for the chair eventually broke, but what do you expect - it IS a cavalier! :-)
Summary: I purchased a 1998 Cavalier in October of 1997, and had no major problems with it in the 7+ years I had it. It's a great little car, and with the K&N filter, CD player, rims, spoiler, and sunroof I ended up putting on, it looked pretty sporty, too! In fact, I liked my Cavalier so much that I just purchased a new 2005 one. I always said that when I was going to buy another new car that I would get something nicer than a cavalier, but I had a hard time even looking at anything else. I have friends with more expensive cars that have had a lot of problems, and I've had such great luck with cavaliers that I decided to stick with them. Now I have a 2005 cavalier LS sports coupe with power everything. In the 2+ months I've had it - I love it! Absolutely no problems, and it's fun to drive. I just wish it wasn't winter so I could keep it looking nice and ride with the moonroof open!

Strengths: Good looks, speed, gas mileage, value for the money, sound system, cool interior, cool dome light (it fades when it goes out, instead of just going out all at once), smells really good even without an air freshener.
Weaknesses: Temp. gauge and Tachometer have some serious issues.
Summary: I LOVE MY CAR! It's a really sporty looking car for a low price, and it gets great gas mileage. It's also VERY fast for a 4-cylinder, and easy to get around in. The interior shows true GM craftsmanship, and- as strange as it may sound- smells really good. Oh yeah, and the sound system ROCKS!!! If Chevy hadn't quit making these cars, I would drive one till the day I died.

Strengths: The car looks very sporty and drives nice. It has an awesome stereo system for being 'stock'. And the comfort contols (heat and AC) work very well and are dependable.
Weaknesses: I have constant problems with different parts of the car breaking - and not through user error but just bad parts.
Summary: Before I bought the Cavalier I owned a new Kia Spectra - I wish I had kept the Kia. I bought the car new, with only eight miles on it. Since July of 2004 I have had the car in the shop three different times. The first time the ABS harness went out and the speedometer went nuts - in third gear it was registering 90 miles per hour. Impossible in the Cavalier. In the same time frame my son slammed the passenger side door and the entire inside panel broke off. They had to order a complete new inside door panel and replace it. The time in the shop was ten days and ended up costing me over $100 in rental car fee. Roughly nine months later the passenger power window motor went out as well as the reverse light switch. Again more time spent in the shop. One week later while driving the car from Phoenix to Seattle the car began 'surging' and the RPM's went from 900 to about 1500 and not idling down. When I called the dealership I discovered that it was a bad chip that needed to be replaced. Today (11/9/06) while driving in rush hour traffic on the I5 freeway in Seattle I pushed in my clutch and it broke. The clutch went to the floor and did not come back up. I sat in rush hour traffic waiting for the State Patrol and the tow truck for 45 minutes. This little breakdown almost got me rear-ended several times and a towing bill of $166.00. My car now sits at the dealership while I am waiting to see if my extended warranty will cover yet another defective part.
I was told that Chevy puts out a very good car - obviously you can't prove it by my experiences.
This experience has left a very bad taste in my mouth as far as Chevy products go.

Year / Model Reviewed: 2004 chevy cavalier ls sport
Strengths: hmm not much to speak of
Weaknesses: all the above mentioned its just a very poorly put together car
Summary: I dont really know where to begin on this car guys all i can really tell u is STAY AWAY. Ive had this car less than a year and already i'm getting rid of it ASAP. the interior parts are very cheap and the accessories are as well. I've had 4 seperate problems with it so far and no sign of slowing down. First the radio preset stations just reset all by themselves i got that fixed. Then the AC was making a weird noise followed by a 300RPM jump whenever it was turned on i took it in and they said nothing wrong with it but they must have fixed something cuz it doesnt do that anymore. The passenger door sticks for the 2nd time getting it serviced and last but not least the trunk only closes when it wants to u have to slam it on average 8 times before it closes along with all the various interior parts that are already snapping off thats all the problems i've had so far

Strengths: everthing is great car drives better than some cadillac's
Weaknesses: yeah right!
Summary: This is the car! This car is great not mentioning the $9600.00 price I paid with a $400.00 dollar radio that I had installed. I live 60 miles away from the place were I work. I wake up and drive the distance everyday. I was driving this distance in a geo metro because I had to have something with great gas mileage, so that I wouldn't give all of my hard earnings to the gas companies the, “legal thieves.” It was so dangerous this car that if you drove over 55 mph the car would shake and if there was water on the ground 45 was the max, without the car starting to slide. I am just a working man and I thought that I was stuck into this car for life. So when I herd about the Cavalier I went down and found out the price and drove it. For the price, and how it drove to me it drove better than my grandpa's Cadillac. I bought it striped with the five speed for better gas mileage. It is fun to drive and has great power. I loved the car so much that I decided to drive to visit my sister in Virginia a drive total of 3000 miles that was a great trip I found that this car is not what I call striped, it has everything electric trunk opener, tac gauge, and a whole lot more. Not only did I see all this car's "striped" features it use but I found out that the car was getting 38.5 miles per gallon! In traffic! This car is great!
