Price Paid:  $19000.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2000 Cirrus LXI

Strengths:
Nice leather seats

Weaknesses:
Transmission is faulty

Summary:
I give this car a one star. After 8 months (purchased brand new) the tranny had to be replaced because of slipping and not knowing what gear to be in when slowing down. The power steering had to be replaced also. Two months later the tranny had to be replaced again because the deferencial rod went through the casing, and guess what...once again the tranny needs to be replaced because of the slipping of gears when slowing down. Oh, and the door was a completely different color of Taupe than the rest of the car. I am the only driver of this car and am very particular when it comes to the care of this vehicle. So far, this is going to be the 4th tranny this car has seen since the assembly line. Is it a lemon? Or are the transmissions crap in these cars. I heard of this problem with the 2000's, but figured it wouldn't happen to me. Guess I was wrong.

Review 3 of 141

Price Paid:  $19000.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2000 LXI

Strengths:
Design, power.

Weaknesses:
Fuel injector, wires and plugs (car is less than 2 years old), shimmies

Summary:
I loved my car the first 15 months of having it. It is beautiful and could roll with the best of them. However, troubles has surfaced. First, the engine light stayed on. Dealer changed fuel injector (said it was bad). I told my husband then that once they work on your car, it'll never be the same. Bingo! Guess what? Car is in the shop again. This time the car shimmied badly as if in need of a tune-up. They said the wires had been changed (spark plug wires) because the ones in the car were not Mopar. Do you believe this? First of all, I have never taken my car anywhere for service except the same dealer. Second of all, the car boasts of no tune-up for 100,000 miles. My car has 10,000. So, I'm awaiting their response now. The car was running smooth until they worked on it for the engine light. Now I'm afraid it'll will never be the same. It runs like it's 10 years old. I purchased the car because I believed in Chrysler. (I still own the Plymouth Sundance which was trouble free) Now I'm having second thoughts about Chrysler.

Honda. Cirrus is a smoother ride, however, Honda Accord is more reliable.

Review 4 of 141

Price Paid:  $12000.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2000 LX

Strengths:
Roomy. Good handle.

Weaknesses:
Brakes - pads need to be replaced by a higher quality product.

Summary:
This is the first American car in my life -Cirrus, so I should say "no bad, Yankee”. Just a little rough things – you can notice them if you owned before some Japanese cars.

Similar Products Used:
Toyota Carina E(Europe - model)- same size but inside sucks, Nissan Primera - cheap.

Review 5 of 141

Price Paid:  $17000.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2000 Cirrus LX

Strengths:
the room this car has is great, the style is very attractive, the gas mileage is ok, it was great in the snow & we get SNOW here in SW colorado

Weaknesses:
The brakes! I go to stop & it feels like they skip. then in the winter they squeak. The windows leak a little when I go thru the car wash but not all time.

Summary:
So far the only thing that upset me is that this afternoon I found out that there was a recall in July 2000 about the brake system now I've called 2 dealers & they've never heard of this so where do I get a copy of this recall so I can have the brakes worked on? Otherwise I just love it
I did buy the extended warranty because of my previous experience with my Tempo. I advise everyone who buys any new car to purchase it especially with all the new technology used on these cars. My 18 year old daughter loves it better than HER hand-me-down '94 Tempo. My husband likes it he says he doesn't feel like he's in a sissy car that its ok for guys too.

The size to my '94 Ford Tempo is much better
