Review 1 of 381

Year / Model Reviewed:
pre 1997 Intrepid

Strengths:
roomy and comfortable on long trips. Large trunk space, foot room in the back seat

Weaknesses:
too many repairs required on air conditioning. Back rest of drivers seat is not dependable...brackets broke too easily for age of vehicle and the cost to repair was +$500 (buy a new seat!).

Summary:
(pre 1997 Model) - I love my vehicle! But I expected it to last longer. By that I mean not having to replace or repair minor things. I have had to repair the air conditioner twice (both major repairs) and the front rack and pinion and the tie-rods. Are these normal repairs?

Review 2 of 381

Price Paid:  $20000.00 from Broadway Dodge

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 Intrepid

Strengths:
The truck is huge and has plenty of room for all our equiptment. The ride is smooth and "Cadilliac like". Plenty of leg and head room in the front and back seats. The car is very responsive and the V-6 provides plenty of power to meet our needs. Like the fact that this large size car has front wheel drive.

Weaknesses:
Would like it if the stereo controls were mounted on the back of the steering wheel, like on the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Hard to judge distance in the front end since the nose slopes down.

Summary:
I just purchased three 2004 bright silver Intrepid SE's for our Security & Patrol company here in Colorado. I love the look and style of the Intrepid. It is a beautiful car and I really look forward to driving it. The car really meets the needs for our business. It is a comfortable and easy handling vehicle.

Review 3 of 381

Price Paid:  $13945.00 from E-Auto Planet

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 Dodge Intrepid SE

Strengths:
Size, comfort, handling, sound system (stock), trunk size, looks sporty, nice acceleration.

Weaknesses:
cup holders, blind spots (fixed with attachable blind spot mirror), rear view when backing up.

Summary:
I haven't had this very long but I did my research on this vehicle. I was going to buy the Sebring until I saw that my Intrepid was only $1,000 more. Everything about this car was just right for me- nice size which could seat 5 people, the controls (air, stereo, seats) were simple yet ergonomic, and the handling is very nice for such a large sedan. The stock stereo produces a very rich sound and the aerodynamics of the vehicle along with the compartment seals keep the road noise down to a minimum. Seats are very comfortable and the trunk is large enough to pack for long vacations. I've read a lot of negative things concerning the Dodge Intrepids but I've been told by friends who work at Dodge dealerships that most problems they have had with the Intrepids were from people *NOT* keeping up with the oil maintenance. Change your oil regularly is what everyone has told me and most of the "bad" reviews seem to be around the 2000-2002 years. The Dodge mechanic I talked to also told me models before 2002 had a few lemons. I bought this at a stellar price and I'm happy with it.

Review 4 of 381

Price Paid:  $20300.00 from Reedman

Strengths:
Looks,ride,backseat room.

Weaknesses:
Noisy engine,wind noise,underpowered engine,trunk too deep to reach things.Overall quality poor.Difficult to get into driver's seat..like getting into a camaro..not a full size sedan.Stunning depreciation...my car after only 7 months has depreciated over 35%!!!!!!!OUCH!!!!

Summary:
I waited several years to purchase an Intrepid having been put off by the bad reviews i read here and elsewhere. It rides great, with a nice combination of road handling and comfort.Overall quality seems to really be lacking however.Fit and finish are not up to standard. Many interior pieces have noticeable gaps.Driver's position is good, but not as much leg room as you would expect for a full size car.Constantly have a piece of foam insulation in door jam pulling out.Dealer said nothing can be done.Rubber molding came out of door jam twice.Pooped it back in both times but just reveals more poor quality.Front right headlamp replaced after it condensed up and would not dissipate.

Review 5 of 381

Price Paid:  $23000.00 from Beck Automotive

Strengths:
smooth ride

Weaknesses:
cheap shoddy parts and workmanship

Summary:
After purchasing this vehicle there were several problems with the electric mirrors and windows not working correctly. Also while driving down the road, I hit a small piece of tire and the entire bumper fell off the car. The bumper is held on by a few plastic grommets against a thing layer of fiberglass. I am afraid that another month of driving that the whole car might fall apart. The dealership will not fix the bumper due to the small piece of tire in the roadway, but it is amazing that a bumper can fall off that easily. The car rides smooth, but cheaply made.
