Review 1 of 176

Price Paid:  $1200.00 from autowrex

Year / Model Reviewed:
1995 talon esi

Summary:
this is my 3rd dsm, I had a 2nd gen eclipse gs and a gst, now I have a talon esi. This car has much to be desired in the power dept, but cant be beat in looks and comfort. I've put about 1500 in it so far, but I knew it would take some work. I think another 2 grand in the body and it'll look brand new.

Strengths:
style, available upgrade parts, handling is awesome, just a nice ride

Weaknesses:
power, weak sunroof track, trim goes quick

Similar Products Used:
eclipse gs and gst

Review 3 of 176

Price Paid:  $3500.00 from ??

Year / Model Reviewed:
1995 Eagle Talon/ESI

Summary:
This is by far one of the hottest cars especially for the price. Mine was the ESI model which didnt have terrific power, a TSI model would have been prefered for the extra power. When I first bought the car I had a few minor problems with it which is expected with any older car. Once the initial repairs were made the car drove like a dream. The handling was incredible, i was able to take an almost 90 degree turn at about 60 MPH and took it fine. Except for the most recent time, I pushed it just past 60 on the turn, and that, combined with dirt on the road, sent me off the other curb after about 90 percent of the turn. I wrecked a good amount of car with that accident and thus has been declared totaled. Moral of this, dont be too dumb with your driving if you wanna keep a nice car. Im just fortunate to have come out without a scratch, my car, not so much. Appearantly Talons weren't made to fly, go figure. Aside from that though, like i said before this is one of the hottest cars out there. Especially with some work done to it. I replaced the headlights, tailights, lowered the front, put 17 inch rims on it, a massive spoiler, 3/4 of a kit... the front bumper looks aftermarket enough as is, The interior was accented with white, and blue strobing neons lit up the interior on top of that, I also put on some aftermarket headlights and side mirrors with led strips on them. There wasnt a day that went by where at least 80% of the people i passed took the time to stare at my car as i passed. And for the guys, this car def. works as a "chick magnet" I speak from experience. Now about the overall performance....

Like i said before the car handles amazingly well, even in the winter i never had any problems with my car. The acceleration was alright, especially for a 4cylinder 2liter engine. I suppose it helped that i had a few performance upgrades in the engine too though. Now all this great stuff about the car and it was an automatic, imagine if it were standard. The car would have performed that much better.

Strengths:
Amazing handling, Even in winter
Good Acceleration
Total Attention Getter

Weaknesses:
Some years tend to perform crappy, i guess my car was the lucky year.

Similar Products Used:
uhh... jetta, really old bmw... that thing was crap... mustang cobra, thats a nice ride too, horrible in winter though. Ford Fusion, also nice but didnt get to drive it too much.

Review 4 of 176

Price Paid:  $1250.00 from World Class Auto Sup

Year / Model Reviewed:
1990 Eagle Talon

Summary:
Loved the car. The dealership screwed me over, the car needed repair but the car itsself was wonderful. Ran like a dream and was fast and quick to get up although you could tell it'd been ran through the dirt. I'd recommend one for a beginner driver or someone who wants a nice project car.

Strengths:
-Fast -Cheap to repair - Fuel Efficient -Fun to fix up

Weaknesses:
With all older model cars, they'll need some catch-up work depending where you get it.

Review 5 of 176

Price Paid:  $3500.00 from Individual owner

Year / Model Reviewed:
1996 Esi

Summary:
This car has been a nightmare ever since buying it. I bought it and it had 150000 but the previous owner had all maintenance records, he also had a new clutch, rebuilt engine, water pump, and timing belt. It had a messed up front bumper but i didnt care, i was desperate, and needed transportation to school. Within first week check engine light came on, so i took it to a dealer, i spent over 3000 fixing it. New rack and pinion, new mounts, new front struts, gasket, oil pan, and oil psi switches. A week later the freaking exterior driver side handle broke....chrysler wanted 100 bucks for a new one..i find that BS. I changed fuel filter only to find, that you have to buy it from the dealership because the fram ones dont fit argh. A month later the interior passanger side door handle breaks. My freaking coolant resevoir fell on top of my serpentine belt causeing the belt to go. I replaced belt, but decided not to fork over 100 bucks for a new coolant resevoir. So epoxy came in handy :). My mechanic said good luck and said those cars along with the mitsubishi eclipses are junk. Parts are expensive, and majority of parts you have to buy from dealer. I really dont know why people like these cars....and rice them out...they look decent but...go ahead and race em see how long it will last you. I would rather save my money and buy a actual race car like a gto or something and rice that out. My best advice to all people looking at cars, especially young people, dont go by looks! Ignore people who put custom parts on them, they are just wasting there money (oh and note these cars come stock with cold air intake) if you dont believe me drive through a puddle..and watch what happens to the engine or throttle body. There is a reason why chrysler discontinued these.....

Strengths:
Manual=fast acceleration...thats it.

Weaknesses:
Not built well. Parts are really expensive and custom to dealer specs. Poor interior. Flaky door handles. Does not handle well in rain. braking design flawed. Timing belt needs to be checked periodically.
