The 2004 Hyundai XG350 remains unchanged from the previous model year. The XG350 is again available in two trims, Base and L Sedan. Features such as an automatic climate control system, a trip computer and a six-speaker AM/FM cassette/CD stereo system are standard.
Summary: I thought I was getting a pretty decent car when I bought this and for the most part was happy. I have had to replace hood supports, 2 sensors by the fuel tank, repair wire connections for airbag system and now have had to replace the radio due to it coming on by itself and switching between FM and CD and now it is doing the same thing again and the dealer will not cover it under warranty as I am out of the Radio warrant of 3 yrs 36k. I called Hyundia Customer Service and have a case open to see it the will do anything. Now my trunk lid supports need to be replaced. Most of this stuff has happened within in a 2 year period. I was possibly thinking of buying an Azera, but with all this I think I might have to go back to either Honda or Toyota. It really bums me out because the car looks so good,it is Pearl White with Black interior. As for the bumper to bumper coverage I think that is a joke to. I drove a 2003 Sonata and never had any issue with that car, wish I had it back.
Strengths: Looks great cleaned up. Rides nice.
Weaknesses: Gas mileage is bad. Drivers seat belt does not retract very well. Wish it had a better suspension.
Summary: This is the worst car I have ever owned. I have had nothing but trouble with it. I have had it in the shop 7 times in less than a year. First it would die when I would put it in reverse. That took 3 visits to the shop for them to fix, then I took it to the car wash and my kids got wet in the back seat because the seals leaked. I would be driving down the road, and it would lose power and then pick back up. I still have problems when I leave a stop sign. 7 times out of 10 it will lunge forward and then lose power and when you hit the gas, it will peel out. The little drawer in the dash broke and was stuck out. The gas mileage is horrible. I bought this as a dealer demo car, so it had never been owned before, I now know why noone had ever bought it. It is the biggest piece of junk I have ever owned. I am trying to get rid of the stupid thing now, but am too far upside down.
Strengths: Lots of bells and whistles.
Weaknesses: Low gas mileage, lots of road noise, lots of problems, not enough power.

Price Paid:
$22000.00
from Eckert Hyundai
Year / Model Reviewed: 2004 XG350
Summary: Can't imagine a better car for the money. Sufficient power, smooth handling, decent gas mileage (22-24 around town), and comfort throughout.
Strengths: Low price for value, warranty (I have owned 5 Hyundai's of all types and have never paid for any repairs), stylish appearance, even base model is fully equipped, and very roadworthy.
Weaknesses: Some road noise - this appears to be common in Hyundai's.
Similar Products Used: Traded in Buick LaSabre which couldn't compare.
Owned 1997 Elantra, 1998 Accent, 2003 Tiburon, and currently have a 2006 Tucson as well.

Summary: This car has been an excellent value and ride. Most of my driving is on the highway and as a result the car is at 42,000 miles in a little under 2 years. Gas mileage is about 24 mpg with the a/c almost always on. The ride is almost always smooth and quiet. Rough pavement will transmit noise through the tires into the car. The only failure has been one maplight bulb which is an odd bulb for a car (halogen mini-stagelight) and expensive ($15.) Stopped rotating the tires at 10K and had to replace the fronts at 40K. Both mine (and neighbor's) experienced excess wear on inside of both front tires, even though factory allignment OK. Brake pads 1/2 used at 40K (maybe because of highway miles.) More roomy than wife's '05 Accord. Plenty of power, but soft ride. Hard to see lower dash instrumentation during daylight. Easy to clean, but wheels need cleaning too often.
Strengths: A lot of car for the price.
Weaknesses: Dim instrument panel. No XM Radio or GPS option. Wheels collect roadgrime.

Summary: Stylish looking car, but do yourself a favor and buy a Ford. MPG is not what they advertise by a long shot. Bumper to bumper warrenty is a joke. Spend a fortune finding what's wrong with it if you have a problem.
Strengths: Love the looks of the car, rides nice, big trunk, like the way it handles
Weaknesses: Get your billfold out!!! Had trouble with it starting 3 wk. after I bought it. Was under warrenty, but because a code didn't show up on computor and it didn't do it when they test drove, they told me it was normal. Lurching forward from a stop. Now 1yr later, trouble starting & when it finally does, I might hit 40mph top end. Doesn't do it all the time, but 3 or 4 times a week. Dealership doesn't know what's wrong, too many codes, want me to spend 900.00 for throttle bundle, but can't guarantee that will fix problem!!!Won't honor warranty from when I first took it in last year cuz no codes on computor then. Like that's my fault. Already spent 126.00 on it last week for them to reflash computor(that was supposed to fix problem)next day same problems.
