Review 1 of 103

Price Paid:  $20000.00 from Sinclair Lincoln Mer

Year / Model Reviewed:
2000 Mercury Mystique LS

Strengths:
None

Weaknesses:
Everything

Summary:
If someone offers to sell you this car, RUN! Run as far and as fast as you can. I bought this car brand new and had no problems for the first 3 years. In the last 2 years I've had major electrical problems that have cost me an outrageous amount to have fixed. Had to have the alternator replaced 4 months ago. It fell apart when the mechanic took it off. Also had to have a bad relay replaced and a new blower put in. Now, as I am writing this, I am sitting at home missing another day of work because when I tried to start it this morning all I got was some flickering of lights then total nothing. Guess I'll have to have it towed to the mechanics again. I will never buy another Ford product again. Ford knew that this car was nothing but a big problem, that's why they stopped making them.

Review 2 of 103

Price Paid:  $2200.00 from Private Owner

Year / Model Reviewed:
2000 Mercury Mystique

Strengths:
Good gas mileage

Weaknesses:
Very poorly designed and built

Summary:
Like a previous reviewer, the power brake vacuum line broke on this car. Upon removal I discovered it had been broken and patched before I got the car. What a pathetic design. A moron could have come up with something better. The fuel pump/sending unit assy has been replaced twice. The rear wheel bearing assemblies have been replaced as they are non-serviceable. Pure throw-away car. Just like the same year Contours. Enough to make me never buy another Ford product again, and I have owned Fords for 50 years! I can't and don't believe that this is a true Ford design, it has to be something like the Aspire (Kia) with a Blue Oval attached. Pure Junk.

Review 4 of 103 , from Hollywood, FL

Price Paid:  $4600.00 from Auction

Year / Model Reviewed:
2000 Mystique LS

Strengths:
European styling, lotsa power.

Weaknesses:
Very unpopular car. To many people Mercury=Old people's car (No Offense to anyone)

Summary:
Bought my Mystique a month ago at an auction for under 5 Grand. Love it! The only flaw up to now is the sunroof, something wrong with the motor, but will get it fixed soon. Other than that I love it. It's a V6 and has a lot of power, at least that's what I feel since my previous car was a 2.0L 4 in line '93 cavalier which lost half the hp with the air on. Anyway, other than the sunroof everything is excellent with this car. The only bad thing is that is not too popular with teens so there are not many aftermarket parts for it other than HID lights, Winshield washer lights, but it is really hard to find body parts.

Ford Taurus. (Love it, great car) Although the styling is WAY too american.
