Description:
Pros:
  • Good-looking silhouette
  • Price-value ratio is a strong consideration
  • Smooth ride quality
  • Four tall people will fit comfortably
Cons:
  • Engine drone with CVT
  • Steering feel induced by Novocain
  • Zero aspirations toward having sports-car like handling
Ruling: Comfort and value are the Nissan Versa hatchback's strong points. While it's mundane appearance may hide its strengths, you can purchase a new Versa for about the same cost as an older used car.

The 2011 Nissan Versa is one of the lowest priced subcompact cars on the market. The Versa comes as either a four-door sedan or five-door hatch, both equipped with a 122-horsepower, 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and six-speed manual transmission. The Nissan Versa achieves 24-mpg in the city and 32-mpg on the highway.

The front-wheel drive Nissan Versa continues to provide excellent fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance or roominess. Versa features one of the highest standard horsepower/torque ratings and largest interiors in the entry-level segment.
