Review 1 of 140

Price Paid:  $1000.00 from Private Seller

Year / Model Reviewed:
1990 Plymouth Laser Turbo

Summary:
This was my first car. I didn't know much about these cars known as DSM's(Diamond Star motors) which included the Eagle Talon, Mitsubishi Eclipse, and Plymouth Laser. But I fell in love with my Laser the minute I drove it and the second the turbo kicked in. I really got mine for a steal, this car had very little surfzce rust and minor dings and scratches, the car probably could have easily gone for $2500.
A very pleasing car to drive. Had 99k miles on it when I bought it and Ive put about 3k on it. Only things I have had to repair on it so far is the power steering started leaking, being in Michigan the salt on the roads ate away at the steel lines. Easy fix.
Car performs very well. I have run it at a local dragway and I ran consistent 15.2's and 15.3's at 92mph. I know brand new these cars ran mid 14s with a professional driver and I am by no means a professional.
As long as you do regular maintenance on these cars they run very well and can easily make it to 180k-190k miles without a rebuild.
I would recommend buying one of these! They are fun fairly cheap and quick little cars!

Strengths:
A very good all around car. Good performance, reasonable gas mileage(I've gotten 35mpg highway, but Ive heard of them getting around 40mpg.

Weaknesses:
Not a family car by any means. Back seat is pretty much useless, only a small child or short person can fit comfortably. Easy to get a ticket with;)

Review 3 of 140

Price Paid:  $1000.00 from Private Owner

Year / Model Reviewed:
1990 Plymouth Laser 2.0 Turbo (automatic)

Summary:
I love this car it is really fast and cute. I wish it had a variety of body kits because it's too high in the rear for me. My shocks were non-existent when I got it so I put some KYB adjustables on, they are really expensive but good. I bought lost of other things for it but have not put them on yet. It had 104K which isn't so bad especially for a 1990. Paint was fading but I don;t like red anyways and plan on getting a chameleon paint job in the beginning of next year 05. It has great pick-up and is very fast. I live on a gargantuan hill, it's really steep but "the laser" just flys right up it! My radio sucks I only get the Disney chanel(an A.M. station) but I plan on getting a new system soon. If my car doesn't get enough warm up time it makes a squeeching sound, I think it's the back brakes. I have to get a full check on my car but I plan on doing a 100K check-up with the works so thats alittle money out off my pocket. The previous owner said he had it done but I don't trust him. Gas is really expensive right now so it's like $25 to $30 to fill up with premimum gas. But over all I love my car. I haven't had it long enough to complain! I really love this car, at first I thought about getting a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse but a listing for this car at $1600 was shown to me and we managed to talk him down to $1000! Great Deal, Great Car, all my friends are soooooo jealous! I'm committed. DSM for Life!

Strengths:
Speed Mitsubishi Engine Reliability Sporty look

Weaknesses:
The hydraulic for hatch went out. Radio Expense Parts and replacement cost which is why I only gave it 4 stars****. The rear sits too high Flip up lights for the 1990

Good car. Honda eater. fast for the price. unreliable car. parts hard to find and expensive. nice interior. no space to f*** in back seat. Friend has same car but no problems. I changed the wheel bearings, ball joints, discs and pads, water pump, timing belt and tensionner, alternator. I changed pretty much everything under th hood except the engine.Constant tranny problems, changed clutch 4 times in past 2 months. It sliped, skipped, wouldnt engage, wouldnt disengage. the synchronizers are cheap and grinds. even though it always breaks, i love the car and dont plan on selling it anytime soon. I like the handling, the feeling behind the wheel. It is very driver friendly behind the wheel. dont know why my tranny and clutch does that because i havent beaten it recently. I want it to be like the time before i took a jump with it

Strengths:

Weaknesses:
