Strength:

A very good all around car. Good performance, reasonable gas mileage(I've gotten 35mpg highway, but Ive heard of them getting around 40mpg.

Weakness:

Not a family car by any means. Back seat is pretty much useless, only a small child or short person can fit comfortably. Easy to get a ticket with;)

This was my first car. I didn't know much about these cars known as DSM's(Diamond Star motors) which included the Eagle Talon, Mitsubishi Eclipse, and Plymouth Laser. But I fell in love with my Laser the minute I drove it and the second the turbo kicked in. I really got mine for a steal, this car had very little surfzce rust and minor dings and scratches, the car probably could have easily gone for $2500.
A very pleasing car to drive. Had 99k miles on it when I bought it and Ive put about 3k on it. Only things I have had to repair on it so far is the power steering started leaking, being in Michigan the salt on the roads ate away at the steel lines. Easy fix.
Car performs very well. I have run it at a local dragway and I ran consistent 15.2's and 15.3's at 92mph. I know brand new these cars ran mid 14s with a professional driver and I am by no means a professional.
As long as you do regular maintenance on these cars they run very well and can easily make it to 180k-190k miles without a rebuild.
I would recommend buying one of these! They are fun fairly cheap and quick little cars!

Strength:

Speed Mitsubishi Engine Reliability Sporty look

Weakness:

The hydraulic for hatch went out. Radio Expense Parts and replacement cost which is why I only gave it 4 stars****. The rear sits too high Flip up lights for the 1990

I love this car it is really fast and cute. I wish it had a variety of body kits because it's too high in the rear for me. My shocks were non-existent when I got it so I put some KYB adjustables on, they are really expensive but good. I bought lost of other things for it but have not put them on yet. It had 104K which isn't so bad especially for a 1990. Paint was fading but I don;t like red anyways and plan on getting a chameleon paint job in the beginning of next year 05. It has great pick-up and is very fast. I live on a gargantuan hill, it's really steep but "the laser" just flys right up it! My radio sucks I only get the Disney chanel(an A.M. station) but I plan on getting a new system soon. If my car doesn't get enough warm up time it makes a squeeching sound, I think it's the back brakes. I have to get a full check on my car but I plan on doing a 100K check-up with the works so thats alittle money out off my pocket. The previous owner said he had it done but I don't trust him. Gas is really expensive right now so it's like $25 to $30 to fill up with premimum gas. But over all I love my car. I haven't had it long enough to complain! I really love this car, at first I thought about getting a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse but a listing for this car at $1600 was shown to me and we managed to talk him down to $1000! Great Deal, Great Car, all my friends are soooooo jealous! I'm committed. DSM for Life!

Weakness:

pads wear fast timing tensionner tranny grinds clutch and cylinder problems wheel bearings crank pulley broke tranny bearings, crank bearings burns a lot of gas paint chips easy o2 sensor back seat small window goes off rails rubber on door nosedives when landing jumps

Good car. Honda eater. fast for the price. unreliable car. parts hard to find and expensive. nice interior. no space to f*** in back seat. Friend has same car but no problems. I changed the wheel bearings, ball joints, discs and pads, water pump, timing belt and tensionner, alternator. I changed pretty much everything under th hood except the engine.Constant tranny problems, changed clutch 4 times in past 2 months. It sliped, skipped, wouldnt engage, wouldnt disengage. the synchronizers are cheap and grinds. even though it always breaks, i love the car and dont plan on selling it anytime soon. I like the handling, the feeling behind the wheel. It is very driver friendly behind the wheel. dont know why my tranny and clutch does that because i havent beaten it recently. I want it to be like the time before i took a jump with it

Well...first of all this is my brothers car...but i drive it pretty much the same as he does. It runs pretty damn fast for an oldie. gota give it that. bought it with a twin turbo. not sure how much horsepower it has but we beat alot of other lasers. wen you hit the gas the things got some balls behind it.

Strength:

Reliable car when not in the shop, problems mostly small. good gas mileage. quick acceleration and great handling at high speeds. sporty. fast. comfortable

Weakness:

all the problems listed above in the summary. the backseat(but who cares)

This is a great, quick little car that packs a punch when you floor it. It has decent styling inside and out. It is a great car, when its not in the shop. This car has had a new problem everytime i fix the previous one. The alternator belts has been changed 6 times in past year, the alternator has been changed 4 times in the past year( the last 3 were free because it had a lifetime warranty on it.) The power steering belt broke twice while driving, and the power steering line burst while making a tight turn. All tires had to be changed. All my shocks had to be changed(very expensive). Exhaust bolts snapped at separated at the axle( was not a big deal because it made the car have a very deep exhaust tone which i loved) but i had to get a new exhaust later on. Valve cover seals leaked so i had to get that replaced. Oil sender unit was leaking so i had to have that replaced. Air conditioning very weak. The front rotors were wraped so i had to get those shaved and when the shop was doing that they said my calipers were seized so those where replaced along with new pads and brake lines. The emergency brake is very loose so it doesn't stop the car when pulled all the way up. And now i think i need new piston rings because the last time i changed my plugs they were soaked in oil, which causes misfires and sputtering when engine is cold but works fine at normal operating temp. Also the transmission slips when stoping

Engine blew twice before i got it, overheated from that, and when I got it, the clutch was disinagrating inside the transmition. I had to replace the transmition. Then, the computer fried. It's been sitting for a while.

Very fast, cute and more of a female car. I was driving to work one day and looked down to see i was going 120mph!!! OOPS!!

very fast for only haven 135 hp. interior is nice other then the backseat. for a 94 its very advanced with everything. looks great, especially with a new paint job! sounds awesome with an exhaust system. recomend the car

Weakness:

clutch went, seems to skip a little when running at low rpms, tiny back seat and the shocks to hold up the hatchback went, easy job though.

well the car is a great car, got the car on my birthday and no longer then a week the clutch went... that was not a cheap job.. the car has 104,000 miles on it and still runs like a charm. the back seat is pointless, but you can put a killer sytem in there. very quick car, tight shifting.
