Strength:

Longevity, handling, front seat support, gas mileage.

Weakness:

Noise, seatbelts keep locking for no reason, eats keys, not enough power.

Ok... I love saturn. Had a 97 before this one and did nothing but change the oil for 220,000km. This one i have put 2 sets of brakes on the front, none on the back, a clutch - my fault, and a rad finally... there are 369,000 km on it and it starts everyday and drives great with outstanding mileage for 200km every day. Doesn't matter if it's minus 30 or 100 degrees out.

started out looking nice, vary easy to work on and upgrade makes a varry nice show car after its finished and awesome gasmileage

Weakness:

gota mke upgrades on the car to get it realy realy nice a car to be proud of

I bought this car stock at while it was stock it had a few problems. Rattles, gear grinding, engin heat got realy bad some times at one point it got so hot it killed my altanater. However this car is easy to take from stock to show about 5-6K later i fixed all the problems, excelaration with a new turbo charger, Over heating with a DEI Cryogenics Cry02 system, Hgih performance airfilters, while instaling the sound systems used sound proof paddings arond the car stoped the rattles right in there tracks from r-blox. After the new tranny and clutch instal it was perfect, this car can 0 to 60 in about 5 seconds and 0 to 100 in about 11. Then i just had to make the car look a bit nicer with come lambo doors underbody LEDs new body kit sound system, and KAbOOM one of the best show cars i have ever made and the cheepist one as well might not start out so well but there is alot you can do with a 1.9 letter 4 cillander engine.

Strength:

nice looking, sporty model with a terrific 3-door feature that always catches people's attention. Cannot ever complain about 50 miles per gallon (even after owning the car for almost 6 years now)

Weakness:

BAD WARRANTY or should I say hardly any warranty at all. Cannot keep the car from losing oil. It isn't burning it and it isn't leaking on the ground. Would love to figure out what the problem is as I must continually check the oil and pour a litre into the engine every 3 trips into the city which is about 130 kms there and back. I have faithfully had regular oil changes throughout the entire time I owned the car. Has a poor handling radius, unlike my husband's older model Toyota Tercel which seems to turn on a dime. I cannot seem to get rid of the squealing noise that's been with me since day I bought the car. GM has not been able to fix it, even though I went thru CAMVAP arbitration, forcing GM to own up to their part of the warranty responsibility

If it weren't for the poor service, and I do mean poor, I might even consider buying another Saturn, only because of the great fuel economy and smart looks.

Strength:

Reliability, dent resistant side panels, optional side curtain airbags. Good car for a beginner/accident prone driver. Reasonable insurance rates, sporty looks. 3rd door makes access to back seat much easier.

Weakness:

Fog lights go on/off by themselves(Pulling the fog light relay solved this. My wife didn't use the fog lights anyway) Lots of squeaks/rattles. Rear seat legroom is tight(As it is with most coupes).

This is my wife's second Saturn. Her first was a 1993 SL2.

Strength:

Nice looking car.

Weakness:

Too many cheaply made parts, Saturn (General Motors) really need to do something with the transission issues.

Thought the car was great until all the problems arose. Coolant leaks, manifold gasket split, defective parts in clutch, transmission started grinding in the cold between 1st & 2nd gears and wouldn't always go into reverse. Wiring in brake lights defective, seals in front and rears lights are gone, car rev's very high, etc., etc., etc.

Strength:

Their value really doesn't hold up, so you can get yourself quite a bargain by picking up one thats 1 or 2 years old. Very sporty looking car for the price,

Weakness:

Very noisy engine. They're definately worth the price used, but if you're considering buying a new one, you'd probably be better off with a basic Honda accord or something similar. The difference is truly like night and day.

Overall, this is a great car for what I paid. If you can get one of these used, you're really getting a bargain seeing how they last forever and the 2001+ models are very sporty looking. However, I would have been a bit reluctant to buy a brand new one for as expensive as it was brand new. Anyone interested in this car should keep in mind that a car like this shouldn't be expected to perform like most sports coupes. The acceleration is very slow for the most part. If you're truly looking for a sport ride, I'd suggest looking at a Mustand or something. However, for many people this car is also a gift. Mine gets 45 miles per gallon on the highway, has a very smooth ride, and always turns heads. While it might not perform like an expensive sports car, it handles quite nicely once you get up to speed. My only real complaint about the car is the engine. It is very noisy, and often times you feel like you're working it too hard when you really are not. It is also causes a bit of vibration within the interior, and you often hear pieces of the car rattling together. The most awkward part about the engine is that every part of it seems to have a unique sound to it. When you're turning, accelerating, etc. you often hear sounds that make you think something might be wrong with the engine, when in fact, it's simply just a noisy engine. For those who can look past this, it's an excellent value and I hear it also had excellent crash test ratings.

Strength:

Its a very good looking car. Stock stereo is very good compared to other makes. Theres not many out there, so your car isn't a run of the mill car. Polymer paneling- NO DENTS!

Weakness:

Wheels, I don't like Saturn wheels, thats why i bought some Motegi FF6s, to complement the car much better than stock. Air condition slows the acceleration down.

I love this car. Yes, it is a Saturn, so don't expect the car to run 13s. Well, there are a few fast ones out there (check out www.turbosaturns.net) But still in the long run it's not the fastest car out on the street. That doesn't mean it isn't a joy to drive. Right now I have just a vibrant strut tower brace, nology hotwires with beru silverstone plugs, an AEM cold air intake, sparco torinos on the way, and a custom exhuast in progress. What can I say, I love the car. Its fun to drive, its peppy, it's fast when you want it to be. The cool thing about it is you can mod it slightly (without forced induction) and the car will run for 150,000 miles with just routine maintence. Great car for any age. And don't get the autotragic.

great bargain for the price

Weakness:

terrible acceleration when AC is on

Overall the car has been satisfying. Purchased the car with 46K. Good acceleration unless the air conditioning is on, drains the horsepower dramatically unless you really step into it. Comfortable, somewhat roomy if you sit in the front, back seat a little tight. Polymer panels are awesome. Idle runs high when car warms up, but then drops to normal, dealership said it is normal, I'm still questionable about that. Handles well. Not a high end sports car, but very impessive overall for the money.

I like this car a lot. It has a very strong engine with tons of aftermarket performance potential. I'm 6'4" and it's not too small for me. It is very reliable and came with a bunch of features (traction control, ABS, CD, leather, performance shift, 4 wheel disk brakes, sunroof) This car has a sporty look and it is very affordable with insurance.

Weakness:

Loud interior. Now that there's lots of Kms, it shifts a little hard.

I have had my SC2 for almost 2 years now and I love it. It is very cold in the winter here and I could not find a block heater for my car. Despite not finding a block heater my car started every day this year, even in below zero weather!! WOW! Even after 216 000 kms, it still runs great!
