Review 1 of 113

Price Paid:  $20000.00 from Saturn of Kitchener

Year / Model Reviewed:
2001 SC1

Summary:
Ok... I love saturn. Had a 97 before this one and did nothing but change the oil for 220,000km. This one i have put 2 sets of brakes on the front, none on the back, a clutch - my fault, and a rad finally... there are 369,000 km on it and it starts everyday and drives great with outstanding mileage for 200km every day. Doesn't matter if it's minus 30 or 100 degrees out.

Strengths:
Longevity, handling, front seat support, gas mileage.

Weaknesses:
Noise, seatbelts keep locking for no reason, eats keys, not enough power.

Review 2 of 113

Price Paid:  $1500.00 from Family Firend

Year / Model Reviewed:
1994 SC1

Summary:
I bought this car stock at while it was stock it had a few problems. Rattles, gear grinding, engin heat got realy bad some times at one point it got so hot it killed my altanater. However this car is easy to take from stock to show about 5-6K later i fixed all the problems, excelaration with a new turbo charger, Over heating with a DEI Cryogenics Cry02 system, Hgih performance airfilters, while instaling the sound systems used sound proof paddings arond the car stoped the rattles right in there tracks from r-blox. After the new tranny and clutch instal it was perfect, this car can 0 to 60 in about 5 seconds and 0 to 100 in about 11. Then i just had to make the car look a bit nicer with come lambo doors underbody LEDs new body kit sound system, and KAbOOM one of the best show cars i have ever made and the cheepist one as well might not start out so well but there is alot you can do with a 1.9 letter 4 cillander engine.

Strengths:
started out looking nice, vary easy to work on and upgrade makes a varry nice show car after its finished and awesome gasmileage

Weaknesses:
gota mke upgrades on the car to get it realy realy nice a car to be proud of

Review 3 of 113

Price Paid:  $19800.00 from Saturn Point West, W

Year / Model Reviewed:
2000 SC1

Summary:
If it weren't for the poor service, and I do mean poor, I might even consider buying another Saturn, only because of the great fuel economy and smart looks.

Strengths:
nice looking, sporty model with a terrific 3-door feature that always catches people's attention. Cannot ever complain about 50 miles per gallon (even after owning the car for almost 6 years now)

Weaknesses:
BAD WARRANTY or should I say hardly any warranty at all. Cannot keep the car from losing oil. It isn't burning it and it isn't leaking on the ground. Would love to figure out what the problem is as I must continually check the oil and pour a litre into the engine every 3 trips into the city which is about 130 kms there and back. I have faithfully had regular oil changes throughout the entire time I owned the car. Has a poor handling radius, unlike my husband's older model Toyota Tercel which seems to turn on a dime. I cannot seem to get rid of the squealing noise that's been with me since day I bought the car. GM has not been able to fix it, even though I went thru CAMVAP arbitration, forcing GM to own up to their part of the warranty responsibility

Review 4 of 113

Price Paid:  $8500.00 from Saturn dealer

Year / Model Reviewed:
2001 Saturn SC2

Summary:
This is my wife's second Saturn. Her first was a 1993 SL2.

Strengths:
Reliability, dent resistant side panels, optional side curtain airbags. Good car for a beginner/accident prone driver. Reasonable insurance rates, sporty looks. 3rd door makes access to back seat much easier.

Weaknesses:
Fog lights go on/off by themselves(Pulling the fog light relay solved this. My wife didn't use the fog lights anyway) Lots of squeaks/rattles. Rear seat legroom is tight(As it is with most coupes).

1993 Saturn SL2

Review 5 of 113

Price Paid:  $13000.00 from Canada

Year / Model Reviewed:
2001 SC2

Summary:
Thought the car was great until all the problems arose. Coolant leaks, manifold gasket split, defective parts in clutch, transmission started grinding in the cold between 1st & 2nd gears and wouldn't always go into reverse. Wiring in brake lights defective, seals in front and rears lights are gone, car rev's very high, etc., etc., etc.

Strengths:
Nice looking car.

Weaknesses:
Too many cheaply made parts, Saturn (General Motors) really need to do something with the transission issues.

Similar Products Used:
2001 Honda Civic - much better quality for your money, 1996 Grand Am - Nice car but again engine problems.
