Description:
The Volkswagen CC is a 4-door, 4-passenger car that is much more stylish than the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry or Chevrolet Malibu. Its European character is something that other aspiring Japanese and American sedans have tried to achieve, but never really quite hit the mark like the CC has.

The Volkswagen CC's interior is outstanding and it includes details like contrast stitching, contrast color themes for the upholstery, and pleasing, upscale trims that aren't typical in a car that starts well under the $30k mark. A storage box divides the rear seats and only allows seating for 2 passengers.

Bluetooth connectivity is now standard on all models, along with a new sound system that includes an auxiliary input and iPod connectivity. The navigation system in the CC was updated with the 2011 model, while the top Dynaudio sound system is now only offered on the top level Executive VR6 trim.

Standard engine for the VW CC is a 2.0-liter turbocharged and intercooled four-cylinder gasoline engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The automatic 6-speed Direct-Shift Gearbox (DSG) transmission is offered as an option. Electronic TSI direct fuel injection and drive-by- wire throttle control let the engine create 200 horsepower at 5,100 rpm, and 207 lbs.-ft. of torque between 1,800 and 5,000 rpm, while also offering great fuel economy. EPA estimates are 21 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the open highway. The 280 HP 3.6L V6 engine is only available with the VR6 4Motion (4WD) Executive trim level.

CarReview's opinion of the 2009 Volkswagen CC

Blings:
  • The 2.0 model is an incredible value
  • Styling is simply stunning
  • The power and economy combination of the 2.0 is excellent
  • Interior materials and craftsmanship is first rate
  • Optional alloy wheel design complements the car very well
  • Leather seats are superb
  • This car is really comparable to cars that cost $10k more
  • You get a lot of looks and inquiries at the parking lot
Dings:
  • Only two rear seats in the rear for a car this size sacrifices space efficiency
  • Moonroof does not slide back
  • Rear door has a very sharp edge and can get caught upon upon opening
  • Owner's manual is lacking details
  • Bluetooth and iPod compatibility needs to be standard on a car of this caliber
  • The 2.0 Sport model is the better car but the option upgrades are limited
  • You get a lot of looks and inquiries at the parking lot :^)
  • There is a big blind spot with the rear quarter panel so backing up is a chore
  • This car deserves to have the TDI engine option available

Ruling: The 2009 Volkswagen CC has performance that doesn't altogether match its sexy shape, and seating space is disappointing, but otherwise there's a lot to like. The 2.0L TSI standard engine is a smart choice, but the VR6 option is available for the power seekers.

Year / Model Reviewed:
2009 CC Sport

Strengths:
The interior is comforting with all the luxury creature comforts. Ride is smooth and overall quiet.

Weaknesses:
The ride and road noise is slightly higher then my former TL however it's minimal. Head room is a little tight for us tall guys.

Summary:
Have been an Acura TL owner for years - decided to try something different. The styling caught my eye, the drive was impressive. What a great car for the buck, the powerful 4 cylinder is very surprising, fuel efficient and there is really nothing to sacrifice compared to the other entry level luxury cars out there.

Love the car, highly recommend it to any one looking for an entry level luxury car - the sport even without the dual climate control and some other small items is without a doubt a great value.
