WHAT A LEMON

So many wonderful things about this vehicle. Exterior styling Rocks! Lots of room, easy access to the back row, convenience of 7 passenger seating when 8 isn't needed. Love the powerful engine and smooth ride yet you can still feel the road. Power doors and liftgate operated from the fobs are necessary features, as well as auto up/down windows in all positions. Very quiet interior and the leather is great, though I would prefer a shade or two darker. The back-up camera is a nice feature, though I would prefer an integrated touch interface for the base radio/CD/MP3 (with no GPS/Nav required to do so) and make use of that larger area for a back-up camera. Wonderful fit and finish.

Things that should be standard across the entire model line-up: Turn signal with a "3-blink lane-change" feature. 2008+ base Dodge Caravan has this standard. Mast antenna? Really? Should be shorter or a "shark fin" attached to the roof. Center console tray inesrt to keep smaller items better managed. USB/Aux port locations should be re-thought, made to work with more MP3 players, not iPod only. Integrate better with voice command, like Ford's/Microsoft SYNC. Integrate the key into the fob. This is 2010...... XLE specific: Radio needs 8 speakers min. Kids in the 2nd row are constantly asking me to turn up the stereo while front and rear passengers are just fine.

While I noted several cons, they're more like suggestions for improvement to current features or features that don't exist at all for this model. These additions or improvements would keep this vehicle ahead of the competition for a long time, not just until the next generation Honda Odyssey launches Fall 2010. A personal preference would include headlight switchery moved from the turn-signal stalk to the dash w/automatic headlight setting. Toyota also needs to start offering more "stand alone" options. i.e., my "base" XLE (no added premium, entertainment, or nav package) won't allow for push-button start and auto start. I'd have paid extra just for that, but I don't want the rest of the nav or premium package. In addition, some options need streamlining. For example a single "touch" type interface for radio control would work, with 3-4 different versions of the operating software depending on radio, entertainment and/or nav package selected. We love this mini-van!
