Review 1 of 69

Price Paid:  $5600.00 from Dealer

Year / Model Reviewed:
1986 928 S

Summary:
One of the best exotic sport car values out there. Fast and still turns heads even though it is 20 years old. A real joy to drive the faster you go the better the car feels. Be sure to keep your eye on the speedometer you may be going a lot faster than you think. Best to be knowledgeable or have help when you buy your car have it inspected. Get in touch with the local Porsche Club of America people. They will help you buy and maintain your car. I always have help when working on my car. Can be reasonable to maintain if you work on the car. Yes you can change the timing belt yourself if I can you can.

Strengths:
Fast, great looks, turns heads, great value. Great support network out there via the PCA and several good parts housed dedicated to the 928.

Weaknesses:
Engine is a tight fit makes working on it a challenge. Do the work yourself to save money.

Review 2 of 69

Price Paid:  $6700.00 from private seller

Year / Model Reviewed:
1986 86.5 "S"

Summary:
These extraordinary cars are full of contradictions. They were painstakingly designed to be safe and reliable at high speeds, but age has made their complexity their Achille's heal. A new buyer MUST purchase a known quantity, because every owner is essentially taking hand-off of the maintenance baton. New owners are most successful, if they are DIYers. Cost of ownership becomes much less prohibitive for those types. Highest quality of materials helps these aging princes to keep their charm. New looking leather and rehabilitatable interiors are not uncommon.

Strengths:
quality of materials, ageless design, comfort in duration driving, owner community support, availability of used parts, rebuildability of many used parts

Weaknesses:
complexity, cost of "new" parts

Similar Products Used:
Alfa GTV6

Review 4 of 69

Price Paid:  $13623.00 from Sharjah, UAE

Year / Model Reviewed:
1990 Porsche 928 S4

Summary:
Where do I begin? Becoming a classic car, the 928 S4 is truly worthy of legend status. The dollar:horse power ratio is very good. True, parts can be expensive but look after the car and it won't let you down.

Strengths:
Awesome acceleration;
Nice corner handling;
V8 roar

Weaknesses:
Spare parts!

Review 5 of 69

Price Paid:  $16000.00 from Performance Used Car

Summary:
I bought this car from the web and have no regrets. Finally an honest used car dealer who guaranteed the car was as advertised. The car is 21 years old and is impecable. It was one owner, garaged an dealer maintained. The car runs and looks like new. Turns heads and I receive comments every time I drive it.

Strengths:
Great looks, exceptional performance, well made. A lot of fun to drive. Way ahead of its time when produced. Cult following so many parts are available from several sources although they are expensive.

Weaknesses:
Expensive to maintain. Although there are many specialty places to get parts, consider yourself lucky to get it back from any repair for less than $250, even minor items. The only problems that I have had is a leak in the a/c at a $38 switch, otherwise, so far, so good.

Similar Products Used:
There is nothing else like a 928. The front mounted v8 sounds like nothing else out there.
