CarReview's opinion of the: 2009 Ford Flex

Blings:
  • Cavernous interior
  • Unique styling
  • Incredible fit and finish
Dings:
  • Lazy transmission
  • Polarizing brick look - aka - biggie-sized Scion xB
  • Some may think it's overpriced

Ruling: The highest quality, best built Ford we've driven in...dare we say...decades? The Flex is a terrific machine. Yeah it does have a weight problem, yeah, it is a little underpowered and yeah its fuel economy could be better, but you will be hard-pressed to find a better quality, stylish machine with so much room.

Review 1 of 3 , from St. Louis

Price Paid:  $33000.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2010 Ford Flex SEL

Strengths:
EVERYTHING! It looks like a big Scion, but its like the most expensive car/SVU on the inside! I have the SEL model with sunroof, etc. I can drive it from St. Louis to Middle Georgia all on a tank and half of gas! The SEL and limited are the best trims to use and have if you have RA or similar disabilities.

Weaknesses:
If you are not use to driving this size of a vehicle, it can be difficult because of the blind spots. Also, the "auto" fold down seats of the second row... its a waste of money. When you press the button, it basically slams the seat over then slowly fold in. I rather do it by hand. The third roll you have to do it by hand.

Summary:
We got our 2010 SEL for $33K with no money down. So I hope this is something that can help... we have the sun roof, leather, two tone, etc.

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2010 Ford Flex SEL FWD

Strengths:
Comfort, roominess, smooth ride

Weaknesses:
Long vehicle can cause trouble parking in tight spaces.

Summary:
This is my first American car. Prior to this, I had always bought Honda's.

Quality: The fit and finish is excellent.

Style: People either love this or hate it, but we love it!

Economy: We just took the Flex on several weekend trips, averaging over 25 mpg. Considering this has about 5X's the carrying capacity of my Accord (which gets 27 mpg), you can't beat that.

Comfort: With four boys in our family all over 6'2", this is the first car that will allow us all to ride in comfort. The rear seats are just as comfortable as the front.

Reliability: Only time will tell if this Ford has the same reliability as the major imports.

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $36000.00 from Seelye Ford

Year / Model Reviewed:
2009 Flex SE

Strengths:
Excellent build quality; great ride and handling; attracts attention wherever we go; decent gas mileage (avg 20) on a day-to-day basis given the size of the vehicle; beautiful/comfortable interior; have had it 10,000 miles and have not had to have back to the dealer for any reason other than oil changes... when was the last time you bought a new car and said that!

Weaknesses:
None

Summary:
Greatest vehicle I've owned in the past 25 vehicles.
