Price Paid:  $18900.00 from RON MAY PONTIAC SYDN

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 GMC JIMMY 2 DOOR

Strengths:
the black color

Weaknesses:
THE GM JIMMY IT SELF, AND RON MAY PONTIACS NEW MANAGER

Summary:
,stearing SHAFT REPLACED,AIR BAG COIL REPLACED AND ADJUSTED BOOT OUT OF PLACE, REPLACED FRONT AXLE SEAL replaced,WIPER MOTOR PART REPLACED, tire shimmey for 2 and 1/2/ years and was told after i don't know how many wheel balancing that it was |An inherited problem , I finally changed the 4 tires @ my own cost and it rides smooth now. My emergency brake never worked in reverse for 2 1/2 years there new manager actually got in behind the drivers seat in front of my eyes, put the jimmy in reverse... the jimmy went backwards without any effort. he THEN jumped out of the truck, he looked at me straight in the eye, and said the emergency brake worked fine,I guess we have liers in CApe Breton . when I contacted G.M. they took his word and did nothing. I now have my drivers side door squeeking so bad I think its going to fall off, im lubercating it every 3 days. I now have my bumper rusting , what the hell did I buy? 62000 KM

Review 2 of 245

Price Paid:  $1800.00 from Dealer

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 GMC/Jimmy

Strengths:
Price, 4 by 4 high and low range.

Weaknesses:
Average gas mileage, slightly underpowered and very little storage space hindered by the inside storage of the spare tire.

Summary:
I have had this vehicle for 2.5 years and have had no problems with it. It gets average mileage and while it is no Honda or Toyota it has served me well. It is a discontinued model so I got it for substantially less than retail.

Review 3 of 245

Price Paid:  $25000.00 from Dealer

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 GMC Jimmy SLT

Strengths:
The vehicle looks good, seats are ok to sit in for long trips. I get decent fuel mileage and its easy on the wallet.

Weaknesses:
I think the engine is under powered for the size of the vehicle. I get tossed around on the highway when it is windy outside. The vehicle can be noisy on the highway. The fuel tank is small (60L) so you have to fill up frequently. Its a smaller vehicle and I have had problems fitting normal things into the back of the truck.

Summary:
I have had my Jimmy just over 2 years and have amassed 115K km. I haven't had any serious problems as of yet. I had a small leak in the oil coolant line and I think that I may need to replace the ball joints. I do regular maintenance on the truck and am happy so far.

Review 4 of 245

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2002 GMC Jimmy

Strengths:
Great in snow Looks 4WD works great Comfortable drive Good sound system ;)

Weaknesses:
Not good in the wind

Summary:
Maybe it's just me, or maybe I got lucky, but I think the Jimmy is a great truck. I haven't had it very long...But I've noticed that a lot of people started experiencing problems right away. I didn't, and still haven't. I decided on the Jimmy because I was heading to college up in Marquette, Michigan...They are known for their snowfall, heh. Anyways, I needed 4WD and it was between a 2002 Jimmy with 38,000 miles on it or a 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 100,000 miles on it. I decided on the Jimmy. I've had NO problems with it in the 5 months I've had it. I live about 500 miles away from Marquette and have made the trip to and from 4 times now, thats 1,000 miles each time...So I've put about 4,500 miles on it since I've had it and again, I've had no problems. It's done great on long trips, no problems at all. Of course it sucks up gas like any other SUV, but thats normal. I love the features, I'm obsessed with the temp. thing, hehe. It's comfortable, and drives smoothly. I've only got a 2 door and it's only got 4 seats so being in college and being one of the only ones with a car I guess thats a downside, haha. But really...Like I said, I've had no problems. I really love it. My uncle is a mechanic and he looked it over before we bought it...he warned me about the brake and ball joint problems that can happen...but also said that he didn't see any of those problems. We did a carfax on the car and no problems came up with that. Like I said, maybe I just got lucky. My friend owned a 1995 or 1993 Jimmy until she totaled it. It worked great, and I'm not sure if she had any little problems with it, but during the 2 years I knew her and she had it...She never had any problems. Eventually she did roll it, which is one of the downsides to the Jimmy, but thats also a problem with pretty much any SUV. Being up north with the snow it worked great. The only problem I've had is that it sucks in the wind. The 4WD works great, and I've even gone off roading twice with no problems. I love the big back...And the folding down seats. It worked great when I moved up to college. With a lot of work from determined college boys we even squeezed a futon in there, so it's got a good amount of space. All in all, I've had no problems with the Jimmy. I've kept up on oil changes and I get it checked up by my uncle whenever I come home. I love "The Jimmy"

Review 5 of 245

Price Paid:  $25000.00 from GMC,new

Year / Model Reviewed:
2002 JIMMY SLS 4WD,2 DOOR

Strengths:
Looks,power,comfort (great seats),safety

Weaknesses:
Standard stereo is just barely adequate.

Summary:
I love my cherry red Jimmy!I dressed her up with a sunroof, fog lamps and Michelin Cross Terrain white letter tires and I can't walk away from her without turning back for another look. She is gorgeous. No problems mechanically either.Everything works, except I had to take her in twice for a coolant leak. All kinds of power in the old Vortec V-6.Slightly noisier and slightly harsher ride than a car,but nothing you can't get used in 1st 5 minutes driving it.This is my 1st truck and I really like the way it drives.Great 4 wheel ABS brakes too.The automatic 4 wheel drive works great and gives you great sense of security in the snow and ice of which we have plenty up here in Canada. Handling is not great, but unless you are going to do slalom race around pylons its just fine.Gas mileage is not great either ,but I knew that before I bought.I am getting about 18 to 20 miles per canadian gallon, which is about 15 to 18 miles per american gallon. For this type of vehicle it is acceptable gas mileage. After reading all the negative comments on this website I checked into extended warranties offered by GM. They offer several plans. I purchased their "U" plan that extends the original warranty to 6 years or 80,000 kilometers. I paid $1450 canadian dollars and I think thats a bargain.
