Expert Review: 2008 Jeep Patriot Limited 4x4
Expert Rating: 3.5 stars

"If you’re a young, active person with a lot of sports equipment to throw in the back of the car, this may be a good match for you. Get the upgraded stereo option, crank it up, drive it to the mountains and enjoy the outdoors."

Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $15366.00 from Don Brown Jeep St. L

Year / Model Reviewed:
2008 Jeep Patriot Sport

Strengths:
Comfortable front seats. Excellent handling. Adequate power. Superb MPG for it's size (30 Hwy) with the 5 spd. manual shift. Extraordinary package E gets you power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, upgraded cloth interior, 110 volt outlet, and much, much more. I got the tow package for towing a 2k trailer. There is no other SUV out there than can even come close to this vehicle in price, features or performance. It will cost 5 to 9k more to even compare and you still won't have a real Jeep.

Weaknesses:
Uncomfortable rear seats.

Summary:
An exceptional all around vehicle. My MSRP was 18,565.00 and I was able to purchase this Jeep for 15,366.00 not including tax. I went for the Jeep Sport with the 172 HP 4 cyl. engine mated with the 5 spd. manual transmission. A much better and much more economical match than the CVT with the same engine. Handling is excellent. Fuel mileage is great. Almost 30 MPG on the highway. Plenty of power even for towing a small 2000 pound trailer. I'm not quite sure why the magazine critics don't like this vehicle. It's an amazing car for the money. Extremely comfortable front seats. I'm 6'1" and it fits me like a glove with plenty of lower back support and ample leg and arm room. Easy to shift. Fun to drive. Feels much larger than it really is. A true Jeep in every respect. I'm really not sure how Jeep can sell this car for the price but they do. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a larger vehicle that gets great gas mileage comparable to many compacts.
