Price Paid:  $42000.00 from Maroone Nissan

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 nissan murano Sl

Summary:
I leased this SUV in April of 2004
with a maturity date of 4-2008 .The car would turn itself off for no reason.I did not reported because I thought it was a battery problem. Changed the battery twice.
Later we found out there was a recall for the alternator. We took care of it.
During the course of the lease my car was serviced with a Certified Mechanic and all the maintenance was done properly and on time.
Now the car has engine sludge and Maroone Nissan is asking for me to change the engine.By the way the car has only 45000 the warranty should cover this to 48000 miles. The dealership and their warranty dept says that I had poor maintance on the car, because after their review of my receipts dated about every three months or less the receipts HAD NO MILIAGE on them.Mind you the car was serviced every 3,000. miles and not 7500 like the warranty book says.
I now have to turn the car in and they are wanting me to pay $10,000.for the reapir or else.
I would not buy or lease ever again for Maroone Nissan.
There service is the worse and they rip people off. BUYER BE AWARE
The sales people will tell you anything to sell a car.Nissan's policy is to try to get away from honoring their WARRANTY.
I have the proof and will use it against them.
I will keep checking this site for comments during the course of my suit.
Please let me know if you have a similar problem.

Strengths:
strong and high

Weaknesses:
engine failure and engine sludge for no reason
defective engines

Review 2 of 77

Price Paid:  $35000.00

Summary:
I've noticed the early posts everyone loved the car...now that they are getting older and breaking down the reviews have changed.

I used to always buy Nissan's, until now...the Murano was awesome at first and for a 2 year old car started having silly things go wrong with it. Then just past warranty the transfer case/transmission went. Common problem that is starting to arise that Nissan is ignoring, yet their techs explain it well as the trasfer case can't handle the torque and they crack. When it goes Nissan upgrades the parts with a newer design to help the problem...after you spend between $4500 and $9000. They acknowledge they have problems and will correct it with upgraded parts, but you have to pay for their mistake...no recall.

Strengths:
great at first...buyer beware
CVT Transmission was the smoothest I have ever drove, until if failed

Weaknesses:
Worst car I've ever owned...A dodge Neon used to hold this title. It was a low end vehicle so you can't expect much. The Murano has a high end pricetag with crap technology. Could buy a new lowend car for the price of replacing Nissan's faulty transmission. Murano buyers will all love the car at first but when the car reaches higher miles that transmission will fail like so many others who are experiencing that now

Honda CRV, Toyoto Rav4

Looks like Nissan Quality has taken a nosedive I wish I never traded my Maxima...it's off to the Honda dealership for me

Weaknesses:
Very poor gas milage, city about 12mpg highway best at 21 mpg.

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 Nissan Murano SL

Summary:
Good but not good enough as Nissan

Strengths:
The advance design of this SUV is out past most other manufacturer, it is still the best shape after five years on the road.

Weaknesses:
I found there are area should be improved in mechanical. I have the noise since 60,000km from the engine, when the car starts in low speed, it makes wee wee noise, and it is bug me.
