Description:
Pros:
  • Quality materials used for the interior
  • Muscular V6 engine
  • Good road handling dynamics
  • User-friendly controls
Cons:
  • Priced higher than most competitors in its class
  • Poor rearward visibility
Ruling: The Nissan Murano's overall refinement is quite good and matches well with its smooth, strong powertrain. While it isn't the best value among mid-size crossovers, the Murano has a distinguished style and finesse.

The 2011 Nissan Murano features a powerful and efficient 260-horsepower 3.5-liter engine with an estimated fuel economy of 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. The 2011 Murano is available in front-wheel drive or with an Intuitive All-Wheel Drive system, and all 2011 Muranos come standard with Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with a Traction Control System (TCS).

For 2011, the Nissan Murano has been refreshed with a new sculpted front fascia design with a wide grille. The wide hood sweeps into the sculpted, dynamic bodylines, with pronounced wheel arches and standard redesigned 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels or 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. Murano's rear end features a unique rear glass shape, integrated rear roof spoiler and large rear LED taillights (with new revised design) that accents the body side character lines. Dual exhaust outlets with chrome finishers provide an appropriate final accent.

Year / Model Reviewed:
2011 Nissan Murano sl awd

Strengths:
Very well equipped crossover with emphasis on sport and performance. Comfortable seats and great ergonomics. Excellent performance and fun to drive.

Weaknesses:
Navigation package is very pricey. Love the car.

Summary:
I have owned and driven many suv and crossover vehicles. This is very luxurious and with the zero interest rate and the presidents day deals it was a hard one to pass up. Nice looking and right sized with great comfort features. So far it's really fun to drive and fuel economy in the 20-21 mpg range is not bad at all. I don't miss my Volvo XC 90 at all. I thought this was a step back, but so far I was clearly mistaken the murano is an upgrade.
