Price Paid:  $17100.00 from Lincoln Auto Mall Su

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 XL7 LX 4WD

Strengths:
Lotsa standard equipment for the money. Also, Suzuki has one of the best warranties in the business (7 yrs/100,000 miles on the powertrain).

Weaknesses:
The gas mileage is terrible, but maybe that will improve with a few hundred more miles. Since it's a Suzuki, I expect to take it in the shorts in terms of depreciation. The steering wheel audio controls are so inconveniently located it's easier to reach over to the radio and turn it up than it is to use the steering wheel controls.

Summary:
My XL7 was a leftover 04 that stickered at $22999. Standard equipment for that price was ABS, AM/FM stereo CD player with steering wheel controls, automatic climate control air conditioning, automatic headligts, and cruise control. After applying rebates and incentives the car sold for $17100. It rides better than my wife's Jeep Liberty and handles just as well despite what some car magazines, particularly Consumer Guide, has to say. These self appointed experts have also slagged the XL7's supposed lack of engine power, but it has plenty of zip for me. In fact, it feels just as fast as the Liberty.
