Volkswagen Tiguan SUV | Crossover

DESCRIPTION

The 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan features fun-to-drive handling and performance in an able-bodied crossover package. The 2011 Tiguan comes with VW's 2.0L TSI turbocharged engine that delivers 200 HP and responsible fuel efficiency. EPA fuel economy estimates puts the Tiguan at 20 mpg city / 25 mpg highway. The all-wheel drive 4MOTION model also gets 25 mpg on the highway, but only 19 mpg in the city.

All VW Tiguan models include an electronic stability control system (branded as Electronic Stabilization Program by Volkswagen) as standard equipment. A European tuned suspension enables precise handling, while also providing a smooth and compliant ride.

Occupant safety is a strong selling point with the Tiguan. The 1st generation Tiguan (2009 - 2011) earned a 5-star crash test rating from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Tiguan did not go unnoticed by the International Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS), earning the IIHS's highest safety rating.

According to Edmunds.com the Volkswagen Tiguan took top honors in the SUV under $25,000 category because it comes with a host of standard features and it is a fun car to drive according to Edmunds readers. The raves continues with owners calling the Tiguan "sure-footed" in the snow and a real hoot to drive.

The 2011 Tiguan is a carryover from the previous model year and similar to the 2009 - 2010 models.

Model Reviewed: Tiguan S manual 6-speed

Strength:

-manual, this is what sold me, its the only manual small suv on the market (honda stopped making it) -fast, throw it in 4th and the turbo kicks in and you have speed when needed -mpg, i avg 27 on hwy and 22 in city (find 92 oct and u will get better) -room, plenty of room for front and back -auto electronic brake, automatically stops and lets go when driving

Weakness:

-manual only available on "s" model -silver, i got such a good deal i had to take the silver they had -stock audio, im in the process of putting in new one -no steering wheel controls on "s" model -no sunroof options on "s" model

I had no idea what a tiguan was untll i drove it at the dealer. I fell in love with it because it was the only car i drove and didnt realize i had gone so far away from dealer. I got an 09' used with 17k miles for $17.8k. The manual is amazing and makes it fun to drive. It takes premium gas so use premium gas. Yes you can put lower octane in it but your mileage goes way down so might as well put premium in it. The only complaints were that there were no options on the "s" model so if you want the manual, you have to get the "s". If you want a car that is bigger than normal with good mileage and is fun to drive and safe, get this one. I drove well over 30 cars when looking and this was the one. Look for a used 1 year old one and save a lot of money. Mine was the only one i could find that was under $20k and it still had low mileage.
