Review 1 of 40

Price Paid:  $11700.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2000 Isuzu Hombre

Strengths:
utility, a/c

Weaknesses:
A manufacturer that won't help you when you need them..."Talk to your local dealership".

Summary:
I purchased this truch new in 2000. Have put 150k miles on it with no problems. All of a sudden...major problem. It quit on me while on the road and have sunk $1300 into it and the problem still isn't fixed. Master Isuzu mechanic has told me: "sorry". He even suggested that I take it to the GM dealer!

The codes showing up are: open injector circuit and random misfire...Any of you all have similar problem? If I had to do it again, I wouldn't buy it. Paint job was week, scratches when you look at it.

Gas mileage.

Summary:
Purchased Feb of 2000. I have 125000 miles on it and have never had a problem. The engine is starting to run a little rougher. No maintenance outside of manufactures recommendations.

My other truck is an F-350 Crew Cab. Nothing similar about it.

Review 4 of 40

Price Paid:  $9900.00

Strengths:
Super low operating costs, reliability.

Weaknesses:
Cheap small interior, seats only adequate for around town.

Summary:
I didn't expect such a good ownership experience on just about the cheapest vehicle you could purchase in 1998. I have 55K miles on mine and all I've had to do is put oil and gas in it. (plus a new clutch at 53K) Fuel economy is incredible. I frequently do long road trips and get 29-31 mpg cruising at 75mph. It is VERY reliable and didn't have any hesitations driving several thousand miles into Mexico and Central America. The hightlight: 1100 miles, Mexico City to Austin at 80 mph in 16 hours only stopping for gas!!

Review 5 of 40

Year / Model Reviewed:
1998 Isuzu Hombre

Strengths:
Nearly everything. Got a great deal, it looks good, runs great, gets 26-28 mpg, plenty comfortable for two people. No problems at all in 45,000 miles, some of it pretty hard going.

Weaknesses:
Cab's a little small (I'm 6'4", and I can drive it, but there's no place to put anything). Power (4-cyl) is only adequate.

Summary:
I paid $7998 for mine, and I'd buy another one at that price in a second. I've heard of people paying as much as $13,000 for a similar truck, and that's getting pretty close to Toyota/Ranger territory. But I've had NO trouble.

Similar Products Used:
Toyota (better, but cost twice as much), F-150 (cost almost FOUR times as much, and gets half the mileage, plus big and awkward to drive).
