This is one wonderful truck. Strong, reliable, sporty, and fun to drive. I do not know another vehicle that can top it for quality and value.

Strengths:
Price....Value.....Low depreciation

Weaknesses:
If I lived where there were hills, I would suggest the 6 cyl engine.

Summary:
I love my truck. I do lots of off-roading
and does great at glamis. I have had it for
6mo. and i have not had any problems with it. Grate product.

Strengths:
has plenty of power.
fits six conferrably. (for a mid-size tuck)
4x4 works grate.

Weaknesses:
these tucks are expensive but you get for what you pay for.

1996 Tacoma Ext Cab LX V6 - 5 speed 2WD

Summary:
Purchased used with 47K miles. This is one fun truck. I put some Michelin meat on it (7" wide rims) for better traction. 0-60 in 6.7 secs. 196 HP (K&N) and 3020 lbs. Reliability is KING. This truck is my daily driver with 170K miles on it now. I don't even consider that it won't start and run the same way it has for the past ten years. Total maintenance has been minimal. It has had the usual stuff. Brakes, tires, oil, filters, fluids. I had the plugs, wires, and timing belt changed at 110K miles. Shocks at 120K. Rotors changed at 150K miles. Only one unexpected problem that was my own fault. At 125K miles, I caught a good second gear and toasted a syncro. With help from my brother-in-law we pulled the tranny and had it rebuilt for $800 with genuine Toyota parts. While it was apart I put in a new clutch assembly (not that it was needed - but...) 150K miles I replaced the battery and starter. Since then it as been running like the day I purchased it. To date I've spent about $2000 on maint including tires, brakes, and alignments. (I get 70K miles on a set of tires) and $1800 on the big stuff (including the tranny repair.) The best part is that this thing just keeps going and going and going and going and going ... Combined hwy/city driving i get about 20mpg. Highway with 89 octane I've seen 25mpg.

Strengths:
Power - this thing really gets up and moves. If i change the ECU I can put a TRD blower on it for an additional 60HP. Reliability. Enough said. Its fun to merge onto a freeway that is going up hill and still be able to hit the right lane at 70mph+.

Weaknesses:
Paint. The paint is oxidized on top and the hood. Of course this is an outside truck due to two others in the garage. Needs a paint job.

2007 TACOMA TRD OFF ROAD

Summary:
Havent had the taco very long yet but it has made a good impression so far. We had an 03 Dakota that was in an accident and wrote off. Looked at 07 Dakotas but they are so ugly I wouldnt put one in my yard. The Taco with a 6 cyl has not quite as much power as our V8 Dak but not much less either-its not even broke in yet and is much better on fuel. It has a lot of leg room, more room in the back(according to my wife, I havent rode there yet) The access cab is a lot better with the doors opening suicide style(we dont need the 4 door) This is my first Toyota and I am very happy with it. Probly wont be my last.

Strengths:
power, decent gas mileage, roomy, looks, good ride.

Weaknesses:
If you have the chrome rear bumper keep an eye for rust pits around the licence plate. I only showed it to the dealer and didnt have to ask what they would do about it, they replaced it in 2 days.no questions asked. no other weakness

Summary:
The truck is awesome. Ample power, towing capacity, and nicely trimmed with the TRD sport package #2. The truck is everything that I wanted. Handles beautifully, drives like a car, and is truly a solid truck.

Strengths:
size is perfect, not too big, not too small for this 6'-01" 240lb guy. The gas mileage is amazing compared to all other mid sized trucks. The pulling capacity blows away all other 6 cyl trucks in the same class.

Weaknesses:
The dealership was dis-honest and would not honor the deal we made in February when the vehicle could not be obtained and sold my them until March. I was forced to pay the difference. Also, I was given 6, yes 6, different delivery dates before the truck had actually arrived. I recommend to everyone out there to HAVE A PRINTED COPY OF THE TERMS AND PAYMENT INFO PRINTED AT THE TIME OF THE DEAL PRIOR TO THE DEALER taking a month and a help to locate the actual vehicle and altering the verbal agreement. Too bad we couldn't just order right from the manufactuer and cut out the sales all together!
